Hi everyone.
I have a situation that I need help with. I recently rescued a male cat who was in horrible condition. He was healthy, but extremely matted with dirt and bugs, his eyes stuck together, claws grown into his paw pads, and other awful things. We slowly got him back to a great looking cat. All we had left to do was get him neutered which has since happened. (He's now fixed but at the time wasn't yet)
Anyways, my daughter also has a cat. She does not live with me but went away for a week and I watched her cat. I was informed that she was already spayed. Which was not the case....
I slowly introduced all the cats and eventually let my daughters cat out of our spare room and let her roam our home.
Well one night I heard her crying, I came out and caught them in the act!!! I was so upset at my daughter and quickly separated them. But they had been left alone for many nights, I just so happened to hear them the one time.
I decided If she was pregnant I would keep the kittens myself. I have a decent size home and plenty of room, time, and extra money to care for them. I'd rather them stay with me than go to someone who might abandon them as they got older.
When I caught them it was thanksgiving night, not 27. So after researching a ton and using cat pregnancy calculators it says she should deliver around tomorrow!
My question is, she doesn't look pregnant at all, so do you think she is? I have been feeding her quality food. She has always been an extremely affectionate cat. The only difference my daughter and I can tell is that her nipples are bigger and pinker, she is bigger than she was but still skinny and not pregnant looking, she drinks a lot more water, sleeps more, and sleeps in dark places instead of usually out in the open.
Can any one help me out?

Photos below are what my daughter sent of her taken today. As you can see, her stomach doesn't look big at all. So is there a chance I am over reacting? Thank you!

Thank you. My normal vet is so full but I am going to try to find another vet to check her this afternoon. I just wanted some opinions. I've always had cats, but never a pregnant one so I am freaking out lol

I guess the next week will tell! I didn't think she looked pregnant until the second to last and the last picture, now I'm not sure. If she is there will only be one or two kittens. Just watch her closely and be there for her, good luck!

when and if she have kittens, weigh them using a kitchen scale in grams everyday same time each day to see if they growing at a good rate and getting enough milk and keep a record of their weight in a notepad or someplace

Thank you all for your help!!
That's why I was confused. Sometimes she has a small round belly, and other times doesn't look pregnant at all lol. So I guess we will find out in a few days

It's also possible it's a fake pregnancy. In that case, signs like the pink nipples and a little extra fat on the tummy due to extra eating does happen, but they won't have any babies. If the male has been helped, it doesn't always mean he doesn't jump anyone, it just shouldn't do anything anymore.

To me, she doesn't seem particular pregnant, but it's always possible it's just 1 or 2 in there, and in that case it won't really show. Her nipples are quite clear, but again, it could also be a fake pregnancy causing it.

Let us know when you find out more!

Update.. Woke up this morning and she has a lump on her left side. It looks like a wave going through her body. I'm scared to push on her stomach but could that be a baby? Does that mean it will be soon if she is pregnant?

Pretty mama.  Īn my experience with half dozen kitty pregnancies the females really do 'blow up' in size the last day or two before delivery. I don't have an explanation, just my experience.  they don't gradually increase in size as humans or dogs do.

Good luck you're an angel to act so responsibly.

It does sound like a kitten yes. It's hard to tell how much longer it will be by just a lump on her side (My cat had lumps for many weeks), but is this the first time you saw it, and is it moving at all?

If it's moving and it's the first time, it can't take longer than 2 more weeks.

You said you think she got pregnant around the 26th of november, correct? They are pregnant for 9 weeks, an average of 64/65 days. If this date is correct, she had her 65th day yesterday. Today is day 66. A pregnancy shouldn't take longer than 70 days. If you are quite sure this date is correct or can't be later than that date, you should go and visit a vet if she doesn't go into labor soon. Specially with small litters it's possible the kitten will soon be too big for her to have on a natural way.

Thanks everyone. I talked to my vet yesterday and she can see her Monday if still no kittens. This is the very first time I saw the lump and it moves. It looks like a wave going through the side of her stomach if that makes sense

Hi,

Could you give us an update?  She is very beautiful but from the picture looks quite young.  This may be her first litter & may take a bit longer but not as long as this.  Curious as to what happened.
