Mattie is diagnosed with Herpes. She has had a chronic runny eye since I first got her. She takes lysine two times a day. Back in October, her eye had gotten much worse and she had a sore on her nose so she saw the vet. At that time, he put her on ten days of Orbax antibiotic in case of a bacterial infection on the nose and started her on some eye ointment. None of it really helped much. In November he put her on a different eye ointment, Terramycin and a three week course of Famciclovir, 1/2 tablet two times a day. The eye began to get better right away. By the time the Famciclovir treatment was done, we thought the nose looked better too. Some of the black stuff on the nose had cleared up. But the nose sores have spread and look like these pictures now. Her eye got worse after the vet visit this week. She was the most stressed she has ever been in the vet's office. We had to take off the top of the carrier so the vet could see her and she hissed most of the time.
So today we have started her again on the Famciclovir and the Teramycin eye ointment. No biopsy of the nose has been done as my vet says it would take so much of her nose and the healing process would be very hard. He says squamous cell carcinoma. I am hoping he is wrong.
I am not posting this thread asking for ways to treat my cat. What I want to know is if anyone has seen anything that looks like my cats nose. If so, what was the diagnosis
I am also asking is there a test other than a biopsy for fungus infection.
I am posting a frontal picture, close up and a side view. Notice the side view how there is a little hump on the bridge of her nose. That was not always there.
Here are the pictures. Please enlarge them so you can really see the problem.

The next picture was taken before this happened to her nose. Notice the lump across her nose in the above picture.
