Thanks for your input everyone. I appreciate the advice. Butch isn't as finicky as Coda so it won't be hard to find something he likes, unfortunately it will have to be Friskies because the only other wet food he likes it Iams. Hopefully Friskies isn't as bad as Iams. Coda on the other hand thinks she's Princess Diana and she has turned her nose up at everything but Iams, and that includes Fancy Feast.

They did like the Wellness dry food I bought and now that's gone, but I don't want to get that again because of all the reports I've read with Wellness dry and crystals. I may try another dry brand. I don't know yet. Depends on how the next wet food round goes.
Well at least you  found one that Butch likes . Friskies is pretty good as long as you stick to the pate fomulas . I wish my cats would eat but all they want is FF ..

Was the Iams Coda likes a pate or chunky variety ?

Yeah, I heard that about Wellness kibble too ..

My cats eat one meal of kibble . There is a new one out called Whole Earth Farms  which I got for my cats and they love it .. It is sold at Petco .  It also comes in canned . I am going to get a couple and see if my cats will eat it .  http://www.petco.com/product/127107/Whole-Earth-Farms-Grain-Free-Real-Chicken-Cat-Food.aspx

Maybe your girl would like it ..

It has to be chunky. Neither cat will eat anything that's a pate and they don't like anything from Fancy Feast.. Butch likes the Friskies as long as it's "chunks" (or bits). I don't know if I should remove the dry completely, but maybe I have to if I want them to eat just wet food from now on. I'll go out today and see what I can find.

That is funny , my cats are just the opposite they will not eat anything with chunks or bits and the FF Classic has to very watery so they can just lap it up . They are a little strange . That is the main reason I have to give them some kibble cause their wet food is mostly water .. Yeah I remember you saying your cats don't care for FF .

Well if he likes the Friskies chunks or bits that is way better than no wet food at all I guess ..  I  went through this with my cats trying to get them off FF and wasted way too much money so I just gave in and gave them what they wanted ..

Hopefully you can find something your girl likes too .. Go to Petco and have a look at that Whole Earth Farms .  The canned does have chunks in gravy formulas ..

Have you tried Purina Beyond ? It actually has really good ingredients and comes in chunky formulas .

The problem is I fed them Iams wet for so long and that was mostty the Winner Winner with chicken and a couple of the fish varieties. I think she's become addicted to the fish ones, which isn't good either. She turns her nose up at almost everything else. I'm not sure how long cats can go without food so I'm not sure how long to wait in between feedings when I'm trying the wet foods. I always break down and give them some dry food, but I think this time round I'll just get wet and see how it goes.

Butch is twice as big as Coda. She is so small and dainty, just like a princess. Butch used to be thin and quite active, but that was before I got him fixed.

When I first got them (as kittens) they just hung out under the couch so I had my mattress in the living room and slept on the floor for about a week to get them used to me. Butch would climb on my chest and cuddle his head under my chin. He still does this. Coda on the other hand took a long time to get closed to and she still isn't very "cuddly". Butch talks all the time - he's always meowing about something and making little purr noises - so I call him Sir Talks A Lot.

Both cats do drink water fairly regularly so at least that's not an issue. I got one of those big PUR containers and I keep it filled in the fridge and they always get filtered water from that. I used to have one of those water containers that you can fill up and leave for a while, but for some reason Butch would play with this and I'd find it knocked over and water all over the place (the idiot, lol). Now I just give them water in a bowl, which is too heavy for him to swat around.

Aww. they are beautiful ..  Yeah , I know how you are feeling about the wet food .    I would not let them go more than the day  without eating . I am really paranoid about that because years ago I had a cat die from Hepatic Lipidosis .  I was free feeding at the time and did not realize he was not eating . He died right in front of me . I never even had time to take him to the vet . Worst thing ever .. Sorry for rambling ..

Anyway ,  it is easy for cats to cat addicted to a specific food ..  It is good that they are good water drinkers too ..

That helps .

Well I got a couple cans of Pride and a couple cans of Starkist tuna (in water). I also got two small bags of Orijen Grain Free Regional Red Dry Cat Food to try, since this looks pretty good (the first five ingredients are all meat). I got the dry just in case Miss Fussypants won't have anything to do with my wet food experiments. I put the Pride and some of the tuna in a couple bowls and Butch scarfed it right up, but Coda sniffed and just walked away. Ya know, if these cats were kids I'd tell them what my mother always told me, "If you don't eat what I make, then you'll go hungry."

Of course, we always ate, because we didn't want to go hungry, but how do you do this with a fussy cat?

Of course her Highness stuck her nose up at the "tuna" experiment, but Butch ate it. This morning he ate the Pride wet all by itself. I did give them some of the new dry last night, because I want Miss Fussybritches to have something to eat.

Boy do I understand that. I have 2 Miss Fussybritches at home and a Mr Fussybritches in training who is currently their student in Fussy Eating 101. The girls each have a PHD in fussy already

Henry was so good for a long time. Queen Fussybritches (Lilith) spends a lot of time in his room though. I know she's been tutoring him in the art of fussy. Lately all he wants is the Soulistic chicken. He has been rejecting pretty much everything else. He wasn't fussy at all until she got her paws on him. She's teaching him her diva ways.

It's so true. Yesterday I woke up with Sophie snuggled up next to my head and Lilith curled up on my chest. They were both purring up a storm.

Henry is gaining confidence and is so affectionate. He comes out of his tote for pets just about every time I go in there now and has been coming out of his room a little at a time for pets and treats.
Queen Fussybritches chases him back in sometimes which is kind of funny because he's a lot bigger than she is. She is the alpha in our house though and never lets the other 2 forget it.

I was looking at this dry food but was wondering if anyone knew if Dried Yeast Culture is the same thing as Brewers dried yeast. My cats cannot have anything with Brewers dried yeast or Brewers Rice in it. I'm having a lot of trouble finding a food I can afford that does not contain these ingredients in it. They also can't have soy in the dry food. I'm feeding 6 semi feral cats and I keep trying different foods but so far have not found one that they really care for. I don't have a lot of money to be spending it on real expensive foods for my ferals.

I got this info about the yeast from dogfoodadvisor.com

Brewers yeast and nutritional yeast are made from the same strain of yeast, Saccharomyces cerevisiae, but are grown on different mediums. Brewers yeast is a by-product from the brewing industry and is said to have a bitter or “yeasty” taste. Nutritional yeast is often grown on molasses and is described to have a nutty or cheesy taste. Depending on what they are grown on will vary the nutritional content of the final product to a degree. The yeast in these products are deactivate (killed) so they can not colonize the system.

@Snugglecat.... I found this food on Chewy.com   It does have some fish in it but none of the ingredients you are trying to avoid . It is affordable too ..

Fancy feast would not be that horrible of a cat food if it did not have the menadione sodium bisulfate in it. There is a link to a petition (to take the msb out) in the cats s.o.s. section of this website. If anyone could sign it and share it around that would be great.

They really like the Orijen dry food, but the wet is still up in the air. I think for now for my own pocketbook (and sanity) I'm going to let them eat this dry food (it's really quite a good brand) and just try some wet food on and off. Hopefully something works.

Sounds like a  good plan .  Start fresh later on ..  I am glad that they like the Orijen ..
