Original post http://www.thecatsite.com/t/289841/some-kind-of-ear-infection-in-kitten

She's a 3 month old kitten. Note that the vet did the culture but it took 2 weeks to come back. They said they didn't detect ringworm but they found something.

Since the treatment in that ear was working I continued it and it seems to be almost good now.

However, I noticed last Saturday that she had other lesions on the other ear (she didn't have them before - I have pics to confirm!). I started the treatment for the other ear (shampoo daily, 2x a day miconozole cream) but this time it seems it's getting worse - see pics.

The vet bill is getting high... any ideas what's going on? The pictures below are after today's shampoo

(by the way she hates me know after the antibiotics last year followed by shampoo...)

I'm sorry that you are going through this again.  What did the vet say they did find in the cultures?

They did find something but it's not ringworm. They couldn't tell what it is though...

It was blue with the black light (?) so it is probably some kind of fungus and this is why it is working. Or should I say it was working. Maybe I just need to be patient?

Also, she is often having some weird cough as if she is going to throw up but nothing comes out. Also my son at some point thought she was having breathing problems. I tried to hear her and our other kitten and they seem to sound the same, so I'm not sure.

I had outside cats when I grew up. This is the first time I have cats as an adult, and inside cats.

I have heard that certain types of fungus can cause breathing issues as well.  I would think that your vet should be able to do a culture or something?  I would think that you would need to know exactly what the fungus is to treat it properly (but I've not dealt with this before) There may be members that have experience with this that can weigh in soon.
