I'm not sure what happened to my kitten. He's almost 5 months old, when I came home from work he is holding one paw up when he walks. He seems to be able to move it, as he was moving it around when he was playing with my other kitten. He lets me touch it and move it and he doesn't flinch or cry. I can't see any cuts and it doesn't look swollen. I'm not sure if he steped in one of the kids toys, or got it caught in something or jumped of something and landed wrong. But I'm not sure what to do for him. I am thinking since he's not crying and he can move it it's probably not broken, I hope it's better tomorrow but I'm not sure what to do if it's not.

Cats are VERY good at hiding pain.

One of our cats broke his leg (over Christmas!), when he was about 4 months old.  Being a kitten, we had a heck of a time keeping him off it until the specialist could come in to set it.  Any chance he got, he'd be running around on the darned thing.

In any case, we had to get a specialist to set it, because he was so young and his bones were still growing.  He ended up with a couple pins in the leg, and we had to keep him kenneled for about 6 weeks.  Worst. Six. Weeks. Ever.  Still, eleven years later, you'd never know he'd ever had a broken leg.

Granted, it could be nothing more than a bad sprain, but I'd still have a vet check to be sure.

He was sleeping a lot today which isn't totally uncommon for him, but when he woke up he wanted to sit with me but wouldn't jump up so I picked him up. He cried a little when I tried to check his leg again, then was sort of shivering. So I got him into the emergency vet. They found a scratch on his pad that I had missed when I checked. His temp 103.5 or so which I was very worried about, but when I looked it up I found that that's not that high (I'm used to kids temps not cats!) They gave him an antibiotic and antiflamatory, and said to give it a few days to see if it gets better and if it doesn't bring him back for x-rays. He did put a little pressure on it after we got home. We were thinking maybe the other kitten scratch him when they were playing, but now that I think about it, I had to put tape down where my hall carpet and bedroom carpet meet because there is no bar between the two and he has been scratching at it and digging it up like crazy. He's got a nice little hole in the carpet, and I bet he got stuck with a tack strip.
