Angelo was around 4 weeks old when I pulled him out of a ditch on the side of the road. He was covered in fly eggs, and had massive facial trama, along with extreme dehydration. He shouldn't have pulled through, but he did.
A couple months ago, some of you may remember, I accidentally slammed my little boy in a door, breaking 3 ribs & causing bladder and posterior paralysis. He shouldn't have walked or peed on his own again, but he did.
2 weeks ago he was treated for ring worm and a nasty URI. This all cleared up nicely, and he was a happy healthy kitten until Wednesday night. He refused 2 meals, and spent 3 days in the hospital. He crashed rapidly. FIP the vet suspected.
This morning, I let my little warrior rest when his entered liver failure. The attachment I had to this sweet boy was unreal. He taught me the reality of the veterinary field, to be persistent & not give up on cases like his. He also taught me about forgiveness, love, & the art of acceptance. He was only in my life a few short months, but I know God put him in my path for a reason.
Even as I rocked him in my arms, when I knew we only had minutes left, he reassured me. He nuzzled my cheek & placed his paw there, as if to tell me "Its okay mama, I know". I told him he'd been so strong for so long, but now it was time to rest. I asked him to stay close to me, always. I love him so much, & the pain that's ripping through me right now is unearthly. Run free sweet angel. Mama loved you so.
