Hello! I have a cat that I've had for 9 years. I lived in the same house the entire time. Well, a couple months ago I moved into a new house. I still use the same littler box and the same litter. He will go number 2 in the box but he will not pee in the littler box. I get up in the morning and find 2-3 spots where he peed on the hardwood floor. I don't know what to do anymore. Help please!  Is there anyway I can get him to go in the box?

Hi!

Have you taken him to the vet yet to rule out  a medical issue? You should do this first because, if it is a medical issue, trying to fix it like it's a behavior problem isn't going to work and might be harmful to the cat.

If he checks out healthy, one of the first things you should try is adding another box or two. Cat attract litter can also be helpful.

How are you cleaning the spots on the floor? It is necessary that you completely clean them with an enzyme cleaner.  If not, the cat will be able to smell the pee and might think of them as good places to pee again.

Please keep us updated!

I agree with medical issues. Very well could be a bladder infection, or, worse, lack of bladder control.

Your cat is utterly territorial. Don't be surprised to find a previous cat marked that territory. Eventually he will settle down realizing he is the king of the house.
