My cat Twitch is about 3 years old and is way to fat. I ration her food but maybe I am giving her too much? When I tried cutting her back I came home everyday to my garbage can tipped over from her jumping in after scraps. So I made sure to take out the garbage before work each day. Then I came home to my door being scratched up and my daughters toys pulled all through out my house. As soon as I went back to her normal amount, she stopped being a tyrant. Shes recently started spending most of the day outdoors. Im hoping that may help if shes is being more active. Any suggestions?

I have the same problem. My wolfey has a ravenous appetite and is probably around 24 pounds now. He gobbles down his food then waits for my other cat to stop eating and goes after his leftovers.

Thats what Twitch does, and when she isnt eating she just lays in the window between my plants. I just talked to my land lady and apparently when shes outside she just lays on all the neighbors porches sleeping. So lazy.

Have you tried a feeding ball? There are many available. The idea behind them is to make the cat work for their food. It would get her moving more, and also make the food supply last longer throughout the day.

I have a cat who was 30 lbs and over 2 years has dropped down to 22. He only eats canned food unless we're out of town and we put our other cats food on top of a bookshelf that he can't get up to. We also put his food down in the basement and his bed is upstairs so he has to walk up and down the stairs to get some exercise.

Would you be able to portion her meals into more, smaller meals throughout the day? So if you're doing 2 meals at the moment, can you make it 3 or 4 smaller meals?

Usually when you need to cut calories, it should be done very slowly and gradually. Reduce the calories gradually so it's not a huge change that's done over night.

Does she play at all if you encouraged her with toys? Would she chase a laser pointer?
