I will be launching a Kickstarter campaign in November for a cat feeder product i've developed and I don't want to spam forums or email people I don't know, so what's the best way to share with Cat owners?

Its a great new feeder product that is completely new, and I've submittted for patents on it, so I want cat owners to know about it when the campaign is launched....

Anybody have any thoughts?

Thanks!

It's possible you can get a lot of interest by advertising on facebook.  They allow targeted ads.

yes, agreed, paid facebook ads are one way, but i'm hoping to reach cat owners more organically, and affordably...

Facebook ads have a bad reputation, actually. You really need to know what you're doing there to make them work for you.

I can tell you what not to do though. Spamming forums and online communities with links won't fly, at least not here

So, it's a good thing that you're asking and are willing to learn. I have lots of tips about the Do's and Don't's here on TCS. They may provide some more general guidelines as well -

hi anne - thanks for your feedback and insights.  i did see some survey links in the past on this site that were allowed to stand, which i thought might be a no no, but it seems its maybe a bit of a grey area on posting links depending on who does them, how, and for what purpose.

i do genuinely think my product will help owners and pets to make them healthier and happier, and i posted this question in an honest manner to get genuine feedback, which i do appreciate.  it seems if there are ways to advertise here or other places so cat owners can view and determine a product is of value to them, that will be the best route to go, mostly based on my limited amount of time, and cat expertise.

=)

Just take note that the rules about ads here are clear and strictly enforced! Good luck with your product!

Thanks Steve....

What are the contests that can be sponsored?  I'd love to get more details on these to possibly sponsor or promote.

Thx!  Garrett

Here's a bit from our site rules:
