I am sure this question has been asked before but I am having so much trouble feeding my cats the right amount of the "right food".  I have read the articles about raw and its virtues (the breeder recommends).  I have saved a copy of Lisa Pierson's info on cat nutrition.   I have looked for good quality wet and dry food.  My cats get a limited amount of dry however, they will shun the wet in favor of the dry.

Is this a bad thing?  I have read about male cats and UT difficulties and I have several water fountains scattered around my house.  They drink plenty.

I have wasted so much wet food I could have supplied one of my local cat rescues.

I don't really want to transition to raw but I do want to what's best these days, especially since we are better informed about cat nutrition than in the past.  Generally we know about the food humans eat as well ie Factory farming etc.

Can I get some help?  (Cats:  1 year old male and female).  Thank you

Susan

ps  I have had several cats over the years and they all lived to 18 years or more on my limited understanding of cat food

Have you read these articles yet? They are very helpful.

Your question is a complex one, and there is no one right answer for everyone. Ultimately, it comes down to a personal choice of what you are comfortable feeding that fits in your budget and that the cats will eat that also agrees with them and keeps them happy and healthy.

I have been searching for the answer to this for a while I adopted a 5 year old tabby about a month ago the dry food package says to give him 2/3 cup to 3/4 cup he was 14lbs at the time of the adoption bt has lost some weight he is on weight management food and I wasnt going to feed wet but I noticed that is much friendlier when he gets his wet so I give him 1/3 cup of dry in the morning and he usually finishes by noon and he gets half a can of wet at 5pm and 1/4 cup sometimes less of the dry but at bedtime there is always some of the dry left. I have been debating whether I should put it away at night or not.
