My girl is scheduled for a dental at eight on Monday morning. I realized today that I forgot to ask the vet is it necessary to remove her water bowl from her at a certain time for the cleaning, like maybe by midnight on Sunday. I know she should not be given any food or medicine on Monday morning, but I forgot to ask about water. Does anybody know the answer to this question. I have called my vet's house and left a message, but they may be out of town.

The vet tech where my kitties had dentals done told me that I could leave water down just no food after midnight.  Hopefully your vet will get back to you with what he wants done but that is what our vet clinic gives as instructions.

Our vets say it's fine to leave water down before anesthesia, though I know some vets instruct pet owners to withhold both food and water.

If you leave water out, tell the vet and they will probably manually express the bladder. They pump water into kitty to make sure the kidneys aren't damaged. It is possible to pump too much water in and overstretch the bladder, though, thus the precaution for manual expression. My vet said they manually express the bladder on all cats before anesthesia.
