I just recently bought my Cookie a bag of Halo's grain free dry cat food

I'm trying to transition her from a typical Friskies diet to a healthier diet. I care about my cat, but I have to care for her mostly on my own, which means her food comes out of my measly part-time minimum wage paycheck.

I picked the Halo bag on a whim when browsing. I still haven't started feeding her the new food, I'm waiting for her to finish her last bag of Friskies. I was hoping to get some info and reviews on the new Halo food before introducing it to her diet.

When she was younger, a kitten, I used to feed her canned food. then she suddenly started liking the kibble more, and since it was less expensive we kept her on that. we didn't even think about it, we just noticed she was eating the dry food more. now I'm worried she's not getting enough water without canned food and I'm messing up her health. however, she does drink water regularly, but I know that for cats that's usually not enough since they're supposed to get moisture from their food.

anyways, I just wanted to know what people thinking about this brand of grain-free food.

I tried that exact kibble for my cat, but it didn't sit well with her (gave her runny stools). So I tried the Halo Turkey, which is what works for her. I personally really like Halo, as the ingredients are real, without by-products or corn. Their canned food is really good too. However some of the canned does contain garlic as a last ingredient, Garlic isn't great for cats so keep an eye out for that. I only feed it about once or twice a week so I'm not worried about the garlic content.

I feed Halo Turkey (sensitive stomachs) dry kibble in the morning, then canned for dinner (not always Halo). Maybe you can still feed a bit of canned for a few meals here and there.

When you transition foods, you're going to want to mix the kibble:

Days 1-3: 75% old food, with 25% new

Days 3-5: 50% mixed

Days 5-8: 75% new food, with 25% old

If you're going to feed Halo, they have awesome coupons (usually monthly) when you sign up for their emailed newsletter

I just gave her a bit in her food bowl and she really took to it! Ate around the friskies just to eat the halo.

The only thing I've heard that could be bad about this food is that it's high in carbs :/

Well that looks like good news that she might like it!

It is higher in carbs, so I feed less than what the amount on the bags says. For breakfast I only give her 1/4 cup, then a bigger canned wet meal for dinner to make up for the other calories.

I tried a few other brands before finding the Halo dry, and she would have runny stools, so I'm sticking with the Halo Turkey.
