Hey everyone :D so my kitten has been turning her nose up at every food i have given her so far...she still eats it but not right away and doesn't finish it. She's getting about 150 g of wet food which is too little. I tried animonda carny/grau/granatapet same reaction.

However, she goes crazy for foods that are chunks and in some sort of sauce. She finishes it up so quickly! Unfortunately though i have only found one food like that that's whole and high in protein but it's only available in one flavour and has plant products in the ingredients

Okay so now to my main question : i noticed she likes those "complementary food" since they are chicken or fish with a sauce so i was wondering if there's a way to make these complementary foods whole!! While reading on the packages i found out that the only thing these foods seem to be lacking is fat....so is there anything out there i can add to these complementary foods to make them whole?

I would not even begin to try to turn a complimentary food into a "whole food".  It would be too easy to miss something.  But what you could do is  possibly mix those foods she loves into the complete foods so that she'll eat them.

Are you in Europe?  None of the foods you mention sound familiar to me, that's why I ask.  We have members in Europe that would be familiar with them though, and probably know about those complimentary foods also, so might know if you could add just fat.  Here in the U.S., I think more is missing from them than just fat.

Yeah i live in germany and i seem to be having a hard time finding varieties in kitten food. Most varieties are for adult cats but i heard i could feed that to my kitten as well...can i?

...with the cats...
that's a really good suggestion that @mrsgreenjeens made! i mix different brands/flavors of canned cat foods together for my snick, who is a very picky eater. you might try to figure out the least amount of the complimentary food you need to add to entice your girl to eat well/eat it all up. it may help to spread a thin layer of the complimentary type food over top of the mix (of whole/nutritionally complete food and complimentary type food) too.

i tried and the problem is my very picky eater would somehow find a way to eat only what she wants! Even when i mix them she would move the food around until she gets to the complementary food and leaves [emoji]128584[/emoji] i guess i'll keep trying. Weird thing is that that only started a week ago! And for people in europe please recommend some whole foods that are chunks that i can buy for my kitten :)

How old is your kitten?  If she is at least 8 months old, she would be ok eating adult food.  If younger, then she probably needs "kitten", or "all stages".   Kittens definitely have different needs than cats.  They needs more proteins and nutrients since they are still growing

Thanks for your reply :D she's still 4 months old. I guess that'll stop when she grows up since her favorite types of food are all in the adult cats section (chunks in sauce) :p

Hello uniqms :)

Pretty cool to hear you are from Germany since I'm from the Netherlands! I would be happy to help you out with food recommendations to the best of my knowledge. I would recommend you other Pate style foods, but theres not really any point if your baby doesn't like them. I know how difficult it is having such a picky cat, it really can be frustrating. I've tried almost every good quality Pate line here and my cat refuses to eat them. I'm not sure if you've heard of the site Zooplus, but it's a pet store and it's wonderful to buy pet stuff on. It has good prices, fast delivery, and it's very convenient :) But alright onto the issue. It's difficult finding good quality food in another form that Pate. I learned that almost every good quality food is Pate style since it's the most the easiest way to make a cat food have good nutrition. But it's not good if you have a cat that hates Pate foods.

You said you cat loves food in chunks, so maybe the brand Bozita is prefect for you :) The one with chunks is the Bozita Tetra Pak's and it is190 grams. I believe the cans are Pate style.

Miamor is another good option and it isn't Pate. It's good quality and affordable like Bozita. For Miamor, you have to watch out since some types are low in meat content and you should avoid the gravy based types since they are not grain-free. I've heard that Miamor Ragout Royale in jelly is the best option since it has high meat content and it's in jelly so it's grain-free.

If your cat loves the supplementary food like Applaws or Almo Nature, then she will absolutely love Thrive Complete. It is the only complete shredded cat food on Zooplus and the only one I've heard of. It's one of the best canned foods available and it is very natural. I couldn't get my picky cat to eat any type of food, but he goes absolutely crazy over this brand and can't get enough of it. It really is amazing food. Then only problem is that it's not sold in bulk, only 75 gram cans and it is pretty expensive. To help with the costs, I feed another brand in the morning, then the Thrive Complete at night.

If your cat loves Applaws, they also have Applaws Cat Pâté which is a complete food. The only problem is it's a Pate style, so your cat might not enjoy it.

Anyways I hope I was able to help you and sorry I couldn't give you more suggestions :) The 3 foods that I listed are the only good quality one's that I know of that are not Pate.

Thanks alot jenniator jenniator for your awesome reply! I just bought some bozita and she is crazy for it thank god! However i could only find the chicken flavour for kittens. Are there really other flavours for kittens? The fact that bozita only has 8% protein as opposed to animonda or grau with 12% is a bit bothersome but as long as she's loving it...oh well :p I'll definately try thrive complete and miamor as well! I have always seen miamor but i thought it was pate. i was really getting frustrated with her not eating well the past week. Thanks a lot Jenniator you are a life saver!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D

Your very welcome :) I'm really happy I could help you! It's alright that you bought chicken since it is a really good protein. I've actually heard you don't necessary have to buy only kitten food and that kittens would be fine on adult food too. But I'm not sure if it's 100% true. I'm not sure if there are other Bozita flavors for kittens since I have a adult cat. It's alright that Bozita only has 8% protein since it really is good quality grain-free food :) Also every wet food does have their pro's and cons. Some people say they prefer to go with a different food than animonda Carny since it has to much offal in it and something else I can't remember. So they could also be why the protein is a little higher, since it has more offal than Bozita. I'm not sure if you know what offal is, but it's the scraps of meat and organs. I wish you luck on Thrive complete and miamor. Be careful with Thrive complete since your cat might get addicted to it haha. I've heard that some Miamor's are Pate and others are not :) No problem, I'm really glad I could give you some advice :) I know how difficult it is with a picky cat.
