Recently our kitten has decided that my daughters crib and playpen are HIS.  He climbs in them to sleep, and we cant seem to get him to stay out of them.  We can keep him out of her crib by always keeping her bedroom door shut, but this isnt ideal as the heating/cooling ducts for her room are actually right outside of her door (no heat or ac for her room if the door is shut).  Hes even worse with her playpen that is in our living room.  We are in the process of moving, and the first night in our new place she slept in her playpen in our living room.  Through the night while she was sleeping the kitten jumped in her playpen and attacked her.  She has bite marks on her face, scratches all over her arms, back, and the back of her legs (she sleeps on her stomach).  I need advice on how to teach the kitten to stay out of her playpen, not having a playpen isnt an option in our home.

two options i can think of are:  use two baby gates stacked one on top of the other at entrances to your child's bedroom and the room where you have your child's playpen set up, or a screened door attached to the doorways to those rooms.

another thought is -- maybe buy a playpen and some sort of crib or bassinet type item (used should be fine) for kitty...? then he'd have his own to enjoy, with some of his own toys and maybe a towel or blankie of his own in it. i bought a used bassinet from someone on craigslist for $10 a few years ago -- for my cats (it came with it's own little mattress in it, and my cats love it). freecycle or ebay would be other places to look for these items.

Yes, I'm curious if this was resolved. I've never known a cat or kitten to attack an infant. The cat may need to see a vet
