I cannot believe how adorable she is.Nala Ava Marie[emoji]128151[/emoji]
Me, too! I intended to adopt only black cats. But you know.....life happens.
I never really thought of myself as a tux lover, was always more of a black cat lover. Then I got Lucky all those years ago, and then my two tux boys this past July. I absolutely am taken by them now.
I have two black kitties, two tuxies and a calico now. I was very tempted to get another tuxie after Lucky died, and even saw one I really liked, but in the end I decided to get a black cat. My tuxie boys are so adorable though. They look so much alike to most people, but they really look so different! I love the various markings they have. My Oscar has a black heart on his right shoulder
Me, too! I intended to adopt only black cats. But you know.....life happens.I ended up adopting the all black girl kitten I'd picked out at the SPCA, AND her tuxie brother, and then six months later we took in another tuxie boy who was about to be euthanized because he'd been at the shelter for too long with no takers. I love those boys.
Look at her adorable "bitey" face! I'm in love with this vicious kitten! [emoji]128571[/emoji]They're all so cute!
I think it's just a matter of giving them time to adapt. I've brought in kittens this year with three older cats. I purposely took the two because 1) I couldn't just leave one behind and 2) they needed each other for company. I knew the old cats wouldn't want to play. Lucky surprised me (he was my oldest at 16 years) and did play with them, so much so that they really missed him when he died last month. Took them awhile to get used to Penelopy, but Oliver was no longer hissing after a couple of play sessions with the fishbone on a string.I'm still ISO companion kitty for my mean, beautiful little Nala Ava Marie. The obstacles are 1. My fiancé whom thinks even Nala is one cat too many at times. 2. My fear that Nala would be mean to another cat, she loves to hiss and growl and she can be intimidating. Vet bills, food costs, litter, etc are secondary. Nala's vet offers second pet discounts so I'm not worried about that. Nala is very spoiled and demanding, I don't know how she would handle sharing the spotlight. We looked at Belle, before Ava's oven accident, I guess I felt quite guilty also after that, like how can I have another kitten/cat if I let Nala get hurt like that. I know she is a fast little kitty and I would never intentionally allow her to get hurt. Nala will be 17 weeks old on Tuesday. I hope that's still young enough to adapt possibly to having a sibling companion? Though I lavish her with attention, love, treats and toys I still sense sometimes that she is depressed or lonely. All the kitties with companions and humans to love them are very lucky. [emoji]128570[/emoji]
I'm sorry about Lucky. [emoji]128532[/emoji] Nala had 2 siblings but after their Mother abandoned them, they didn't make it. Nala was the runt but she was a survivor. I don't understand sometimes why she's so ill-tempered when she's used to human touch and interaction, I thought she'd be very loving and affectionate. She would end up loving a sibling eventually, I just know it. I just don't want to cause her or any other kitty distress. It may just be difficult for a little bit..... I'm glad your kitties get along and play together now! [emoji]128571[/emoji] This pic is from one of her first pics, when we were still uncertain if she was going to survive, her eyes were infected, she was so dehydrated and scrawny. I bottle fed her for exactly 8 weeks! Pitiful little thing, now, she's a beauty!I think it's just a matter of giving them time to adapt. I've brought in kittens this year with three older cats. The boys were about 6.5 months old when I brought Penelopy in. I had a chat with Oliver after all the hissing and growling the first night saying that he was way too young to have that much hate in his little body. I'd say the same for Nala as well.
