I have tried to do some research and have ideas of what it might be from overgrooming from itching or allergies to ringworm although neither seems to hit the nail on the head as to how it appears at the moment.
We noticed what seemed to be a redness or swollen look to his left eyelid/brow area a few days ago. Closer examination didn't seem to show any open wound. Based on his not-so-agile moves he makes sometimes, we figured he had scratched it or bumped it. The next day it seemed like maybe there was hair loss on that area (talking smaller than a dime size spot at most) which may or may not have been started the day before but clearly was more noticeable.
We opted to monitor it (even as I did research). We also noted that it didn't appear to 'bother' him in that he didn't react adversely when we touched the area either. Yesterday and today it is more just an area of skin without his black fur and there isn't any sign of redness, irritation, or anything really. We debated if it seems swollen or not since the lack of fur gives that impression.
Nothing else seems untoward with him. We have tried to dissuade him from paw-licking-grooming it in case it is just a result from that, but no way to keep him from doing that full time anyway IF that is the cause.
Our plan for the moment is to monitor it a bit longer to try and get a feel for a few things:
continued lack of any type of redness/irritation etc.
if the area increases or decreases in size noticeably
if we observe any other changes physically or in behavior (although there doesn't appear to be anything behavior related to this at all at this point).
Outside of the expected take him to the vet to be sure, does anyone have any urgent concern on getting him there sooner than later based on what limited information I can provide? His annual vet appointment will be within a month to six weeks anyway, I just do not want to put it off that long if there are any major concerns if it just stays as it is and does not get any worse or different at least.
I tried to take some pictures on my phone but it just really didn't result in anything too useful I'm afraid.
