Hi Guys, I have a question before I call my vet. I noticed today that my kitty has red gums very near the teeth not the height but close to the teeth. He is 8 months old .He's on a Raw diet .....instinct.Raw beef. When he was first checked by my vet he was 13 weeks old and had his baby teeth,he mentioned a disease that cats get but said it's probably just teething. We haven't been back yet but now he has his permanent teeth it scares me, any answers before I call the vet.??

He was probably talking about stomatitis.  Stomatitis usually involves more than a little redness at the gum line but he is really young to have gingivitis.  If your concerned about it, which I understand, I would have a vet check him again.

It depends on what you mean by dangerous.  It is both very painful and progressive.  The traditional treatment is extractions either from the canines back or full mouth.   The dental is expensive.  Some kitties continue to have issues even after extractions.  Some studies show that the longer it goes without the extractions the more likely it will continue after having the teeth removed.

It's an autoimmune disorder thought to be a reaction to the plaque on the teeth.  http://healthypets.mercola.com/site...06/dr-becker-discusses-feline-stomatitis.aspx   is a good source of info about it.  It that is what it is then it's early in the process so you may be able to control it without extractions.

I would try to get him into the vet so you will know what you are dealing with.
