I haven't seen mention of this food on site here ...not sure I heard mention of it by Dr. Pierson either - it sounds good - reviews are good.  I found it on Pet Food Direct and will run about $1.12 per 5.5 oz can on autoship ( including the cost of shipping) - this is the info on the Turkey & Turkey Liver variety:

Turkey, Turkey Broth, Turkey Liver, Sun-Cured Alfalfa Meal, Flaxseed, Salt, Potassium Chloride, Calcium Carbonate, Choline Chloride, Carrageenan, Guar Gum, Taurine, Iron Proteinate, Zinc Proteinate, Manganese Proteinate, Copper Proteinate, Sodium Selenite, Calcium Iodate, Thiamine Mononitrate (Vitamin B1), Niacin Supplement (Vitamin B3), Vitamin E Supplement, b-Calcium Pantothenate (Vitamin B5), Pyridoxine Hydrochloride (Vitamin B6), Riboflavin Supplement (Vitamin B2), Biotin (Vitamin B7), Vitamin B12 Supplement, Vitamin D2 Supplement, Folic Acid (Vitamin B9).

Analysis:

Crude Protein (min) 10%
Crude Fat (min) 6%
Crude Fiber (max) 1.5%
Moisture (max) 78%
Ash (max) 3%

I do see it contains carrageenan ...this does not seem to disagree with my cat so far ...I am transitioning him a predominate wet diet ... as I do so,  I realize the more wet, the more carrageenan. But this food looks good to me ...I must say however, that I am reeling with all the brands & ingredients I am 'researching'

It does look pretty good. I am not happy with how high on the list the Alfafa Meal and Flaxseed are though. For that price, I would prefer Fancy Feast Classic Pates which have no grains and no carrageenan.

I wondered if there was any point to the alfalfa & flax ...just useless carbs to cat? I am trying the FF classic pate & also one ( maybe 2 ) varieties of Purina One ... he loved the Purina One ...I am also adding about  TBL of water to each wet meal to get more water into him although he does drink some on his own ...more water is always good.  Thank you - I value your input - and that of others - as I sort out the best nutrition I can afford for my kitty.

We fed some By Nature to our cats when we first adopted them in December: I think they were from the organic line but don't remember for sure. I do remember that one kind had chicken, the other had turkey. The foods seemed fine but the cats were pretty indifferent to them so I didn't buy more.

I try not to feed too much carrageenan: the only food I buy that has it is Wellness Core but they only get about one can a week. Of course they love those foods! They get the turkey/duck and, even more occasionally, the kitten food (they're no longer kittens but they love that one as a treat); some of the Core foods are significantly higher in carbs.

Good luck in your food research, LoriBeth, it's a fair bit of work to figure out what works best for a cat!

By Nature is one of those brands I wished my cats would love, because I feel it's a decent food for the price and comes in 5.5 oz cans.  I've tried the chicken, beef, and turkey pates.  They liked the chicken okay, the turkey and beef were fed to the dogs.

I just ordered three more cases to "try" (hey, the dogs will eat whatever, lol).  I ordered the Chicken Olio (this seems to be well liked so far by the cats and is pate), the Rabbit Stew (was well received by both- definite chunky texture with gravy), and the 95% tuna & chicken (had to add some toppers to it to get my kitten to eat it- pate style).

One of my cats prefers chunky textures, so he likes the stew.  The older cat prefers pates, but really gets into the "cheap stuff" and I'm trying to get him to eat a higher quality food.  His favorites are Friskies pates.  It's not that I have an issue with by products, what concerns me about Friskies and FF and the cheaper foods, is the phosphorous and ash levels.

The company (by Nature) has EXCELLENT customer service though, and from their emails looks like they also make World's Best cat litter.
