Good morning and Happy Friday!

Today's question:  What's your favorite picnic-type food?

I dearly love potato salad and would make it every week, if I could. Rick is more of a macaroni salad fan or broccoli salad. He'll eat potato salad, but he's not crazy about it.

Mom used to make the best potato salad and macaroni salad around. The dressing was mayo-based and she used mustard, pickle relish, and a bit of sugar. She would also add in some Miracle Whip salad dressing when my BIL wasn't around. I can pretty much duplicate her potato salad, but her macaroni salad still gives me fits....and I have her recipe! My sister is having the Fourth of July picnic at her house and we were talking about Mom's salads last night, trying to figure out how she made them. I told her that I had Mom's recipe (even though I still can't make it exactly like Mom did), so I'm the one in charge of the macaroni salad for the picnic.

What's your favorite food for a picnic?

Cold tomato and mayo (or MW) sandwiches on white bread.  They must be cold!

Mac salad but the ones that are not heavy on mayo.  I like it a bit drier.  My Step Mom makes a great mac salad.

Prosciutto wrapped in little garlic breads (Or just prosciutto on its own) along with other knick knacks like camembert, other cheeses and other different types of cold cuts with bread and crackers. All eaten during a nice warm sunny day while sitting comfortably under the shade of a tree with a gentle breeze. Happy sigh ~

Second place - hotdogs!

Cold coleslaw with egg sandwich. If we get hit by a hurricane, I'm stocking up an entire basement full of those.

Pasta salad!  My Aunt got me started with loving it.  She uses the Radiator shaped pasta to really hold the dressing.  She cubes some provolone cheese and adds pepperoni.  It's delicious!

The only one who does it different but I love almost as much is my old co-worker.  She halves grape tomatoes and cuts raw broccoli and cauliflower into small bite size pieces.  It's the only way I enjoy those veggies raw.  So yummy!

I think I need to make some next week....

i'd say my favorite would be potato salad. i make mine with mayo, yellow mustard, sweet pickle relish and some of the pickle relish juice. i usually chop up a couple hard boiled eggs and add them to it too. i do love macaroni salad and (only homemade) cole slaw. i also really like cheese tortollini with pesto-mayo mixed into it. the mayo mixed into the pesto helps it stick better to the tortollini.

My fav is also potato salad but I do also love those deviled eggs.  My sister makes both and it's out of this world.

My sister in law makes the best macaroni salad and potato salad, both are pretty simple. Macaroni with miracle whip, mustard and eggs and the potato has pickles and mayo. For some reason mine are nothing like them when I try.

I like anything with watermelon and feta cheese together.

We make this cucumber feta dill thing that we love.

I've never been on a picnic, but always thought fried chicken would be good.
When we were kids and went on picnics at a state park, Mom would get up early in the morning, just to fry chicken for the picnic. There is nothing better for a picnic than cold fried chicken!

Pasta salad is always a big hit here, too. I just use a bottle of Italian salad dressing with rotini pasta. I always use broccoli and tomatoes and lots of halved pepperoni with both cubed mozz and provolone. Yum!

We do deviled eggs sometimes here, too. Sometimes, even if it's just Rick and me, I'll make a couple deviled eggs for us to share.

I will make pickled eggs (with red beets and their juice). Pickled eggs go well here.

I don't really care for it with the traditional bottled Italian dressing.  A vinegarette would be nice.  But I've been mixing up my own dressing based off the recipe for it in my Betty Crocker cookbook.  It's less "oniony"  and so simple.

I was just thinking about using some lump crab meat in it this week instead of the pepperoni.  That might be really good!!  I need to get out of my pjs and go get some veggies for it.  I'm starting to crave it bad!
I've got cukes and tomatoes growing; but none mature enough to pick yet.  (Though I do have 2 cherry tomatoes and one other small one that are ripe and picked already. It's just not enough for a pasta salad.)

Well first of all I hate picnics. Any outdoor activities. I do not like pasta salad. I love warm potato dalad with onions and mayonnaise. And fried chicken something I've never had.

We don't really go on picnics, but of that type of food, probably pasta salad. I make a chicken Caeser one that has chicken, Parmesan, Caesar dressing and romaine that's pretty yummy.
