I just found a blue tail out there on the porch where she has been all afternoon. Nothing is attached to it. It looks like a lizard tail. Hubby said it was a skink. Does anyone know if they are harmful to cats.

From what little reading I've just done, skinks drop their tails and escape (now that would confuse a cat) which means that maybe your cat did not ingest a skink.

A quick internet search turns up a lot of yeses, no's, and maybes. Hard to find verified information and symptoms, but this gives you a possible list of symptoms: http://www.ehow.com/about_6734855_blue-tail-lizard-toxicity.html

Now that is scary when I read the symptoms. I hope the critter dropped its tail and ran.

The most likely scenario would be that a cat would have that moment of "wait a second, that's not supposed to happen" and the skink would get away.
