First, thank you so much for rescuing this kitten. You probably saved his life.
That he seems not be bothered by his eye condition leads me to guess he was born that way or has had a long time to know how to adapt to his blindness.
I don't have any experience with what appears to be a cat born blind. There is an article about cats who are blind, maybe this will help.
How young/old does the cat appear to be? Does he appear to be a good weight? He does need to be seen by a vet just to make sure he is okay and to determine why he has no eyeballs/eye sight.
I would search for cat sanctuaries/rescue organizations where you live. They might help with any vet bills, or tell you about a low cost vet.
Good luck and do keep us posted. They will / should help with neutering costs.
PS: we love pictures (and they may help us to figure out how old he is).

After getting her checked by a vet to see if she needs antibiotics for infection, etc.,I would suggest you contact Blind Cat Rescue as a first step and ask them for advice on placing him.  Blind cats do just fine as pets.  We had one recently who had ONE missing eye just like you describe.  The vet cleaned it up and sewed it shut so it wouldn't be running and ugly, and we had no trouble finding her a great adoptive home.

Hi @CierraAnnn

Yes, I am so glad he has you to help him!!

What you describe is eye infections, but not necessarily the eyes are gone, when kittens eyes are that full of infection they will often sort of shrink back and the inner lid will close over them, making it appear that there are no eyes.

Without seeing the eyes up close, it's hard to say for sure, but usually if they never developed and are not there, they don't have the infection like this.

It is common for young kittens to have infected eyes, some just a little drainage/goop, others like this one, and need help.

I highly suggest locating a caring vet nearby, and simply going in with the kitten, saying you just found him and have no way of paying for care.

There really are some out there who understand and know how important this kittens eyes and future are, and might waive any costs.

Terramycin is crucial, or erythromycin ointment. These are great antibacterial eye meds.

If you are unable to find a vet, which I would think/hope is not the case, but you can also googly non profit cat rescue groups in your area and ask for help.

This is what I have, and just what I would do to help this little one. We are in it for the cats, and I am always willing to help someone like you with a cat or kitten who desperately needs some help.

The eye treatments and meds are not that much money and will really help this kitten tremendously.

Meanwhile the warm wet soft cloth to keep that goop from sealing the eyes shut is critical, if the infection is unable to drain it builds up around the eye and he can definitely lose all sight.

Good luck!

Thank you all so much! and I would say he is about 4 weeks old definitely old enough to be away from mom, i have decided to keep him until he is better i got the one eye cleaned out and it almost looks like he has a growth on it like a blood bubble and it looks swollen i will take a picture to night and have it up in the morning hopefully it will help and i will warn you ahead of time it is a little unsightly I guess I should say. And yes he seams to be well fed. Also i will be taking him to the vet i don't think there is much they will do but i am going to give it a try!!!

The "blood bubble" you describe is probably the inner eyelid which is swollen from the infection.  In addition to antibiotics orally and in drops or ointments for the eye, we also use pheniramine drops to help take down the swelling when the eye gets like this.  Not all vets know about this but ours said just use Visine-A (which is pheniramine) in addition to the other drops which he gave us.  It could be that this kitten actually does have eyes under all the mess and may eventually be able to see.  I'm glad he has a safe home with you while he recovers.  Since funds are an issue, there are lots of things you can do to raise funds from friends and family, especially if you have a Facebook page where you could post pictures of him and share with your friends.

I have a blind from birth cat who is super happy, 100% blind and she is fine.  (see link in my signature).  If this kitten turns out to be blind (at the moment sounds like serious infection) I'd be happy to talk to you mre about blind kitten things :)

Just so you know, this infection will not go away on it's own, and the kitten's potential vision is relying on meds to clear the infection from his system and eyes.

Speaking for myself, it's literally not possible to shock me with pics, it will actually be quite helpful.

I do believe there are eyes in there, just have the inner lids likely stuck/glued shut but no way for you to open it without doing great damage, so he really does need vet care asap.

Make sure you say that you just found the kitten this way.

Some will help, some will say well without payment we can't help, but don't let that vet discourage you, he really must be put on meds asap.

One other thing to look into is Care Credit.  See if you qualify.  Ask your vet if he will work out payments with you or charge you the amount he would charge a rescue group.  Please keep us posted and I wish you the best.  You're so awesome for rescuing this kitty and taking him in.

Poor little boy! But it is wonderful that you found him and are trying to help.

Eye infections in kittens are very common and can look frightening, but often respond well to the right antibiotic. I had a kitten dumped on me back in December with her eye glued shut with crusts, and it is only now, in the past week, that her eyes are both clear and she is at last able to see clearly. It has taken several goes at finding the right antibiotic, as there are several different bacteria that can cause such infections. It is good you are talking your little one to the vet, and if you possibly can, if the first antibiotic doesn't make a big difference within a few days, go back and ask for a biopsy to determine which bacterial infection he has. I wish I had done that at the beginning, it would have saved my kitten much pain and me a bunch of money on different useless medicines. I do wish you and the kitten the very best of luck, I am sure you can make a difference.

I hope you can get some antibiotics for this kitty.  I haven't dealt with this but I know their eyes can look really bad when they are infected.

I don't have any experience with this but I want to say you are such a good soul for rescuing this baby. I hope  you are able to find a vet or rescue to help you.

(good karma coming your way)

I just want to repeat a couple of things that others including @catwoman707 said which is a search for local cat rescue groups might be able to offer help if you don't have funds and many vets, if you present the cat to them as a stray will either give you a discounted "stray rate" or even better.

Thank you for rescuing this kitten.  You do need to take him to a vet, many shelters have free or very inexpensive vet clinics if you cannot afford to take to a free standing veterinary hospital.  PetSmart is also a little less expensive, but I would try a shelter first if money is tight.  He definitely needs professional veterinary care and to be checked for any diseases.  Good luck

Hi CierraAnn,

Thanks for rescuing this little guy. I just wanted to say that eye infections are really common in stray kittens and they can look horrible, but they respond well to antibiotics and eye drops. Don't give up hope yet. My vet told me that one of the feral kittens I took in last year was probably going to lose her eyesight, but after a lot of TLC she ended up with a slightly cloudy eye and can see pretty well.

Keep us posted, I hope you get some good news at the vet today.
