I have a stove like yours. They are a pain to clean. I let mine cool then use a single edge razor and windex to clean the over spills then use a ceramic stove cleaner with alot of elbow grease after.

Yeah, I've already cheated and used water to get some of it off the top. A lot of elbow grease!! Grrr.

Kathy, it's lovely. I love everything. Where did you find your electrical covers? I believe I see cats on them!

Love your countertops. And look at all that space by the sink.....I could knead yeast dough there and roll out cookies to my heart's content! Nice.

As for the stove, yeah, mine is like that. I never realized just how often the cats surfed the kitchen counters til we got that stove and I saw all the paw prints. My stove top is a mess and I don't know how to get the stuff off completely. I've tried everything and nothing works to get it completely clean. Especially sugar, from doing applesauce....what a bugger that is to get off the stove. I believe you said it's also convection. Find a convection cookbook and read up on convection; you'll be glad you did. It's worth it. I use it all the time. (My old microwave was also convection and it came with a really nice Sharp microwave/convection cookbook. I use a lot of the recipes in that, but I kept working with it, too, and I'm glad I have it. Food gets done a lot quicker with convection than regular baking and roasting.)

I have found, too, that the icemaker/water on the fridge likes to leave a mess, if you're not careful. I'm constantly cleaning that off and wiping it down.

I like how you keep your spices on the side of the fridge. Neat idea! They're right within reach.

I like it. It all came together beautifully. Great job! I can't wait to see your backsplash....I've started looking for backsplash, but haven't found anything that reached out and smacked me yet.

Get some of the polish/wax to put on it.  Make a habit of putting it on at least once a month. It will make clean up easier.  When I do have a mess to clean up I spray my bleach cleaner on it and let it sit for a little while. I than use my straight razor I bought just for the stove on it.  It comes right up.  I really think the polish makes a difference.

The kitchen looks wonderful. I hope you are enjoying it. I have a ceramic cook top. I love it because it's so easy to clean. I wipe it over with a damp soft cloth, scrape it with the razor then wipe it over with a ceramic cook top cleaner. I never use any other cleaners on it because the instruction manual says not too. A razor scraper does the work of chemical cleaners. Mine looks lovely and shiny and it's years old. Some mornings there are little paw prints on it though!!! Oh and there is a protective wax you can put on it too made especially for ceramic cook tops. I have used it but I found it a bit smeary. I'm sure you will love it once you get the hang of it.

Lol! Those are moose on the electrical covers!!! I have a clock that matches them too. Thanks for the tip on the convection oven cookbook. Never even thought of it. Boy the cat's can't get away with anything with the stove top! Lol.

Update: the back splash is on the walls: how ever my B.I.L. has to put in the grout. We bought some led strip lighting and wow, it makes it pop. Have picked out a paint color and my S.I.L will be painting that. Were lucky in that she is a interior decorator so is great at picking out colors. Thank god. Because it was hard to pick a color that would go with everything. I'm going to go darker this time. Since we'll have great lighting anyway. Have sanded down the wooden towel rack and stained it and the same for the shelve that goes back up over the sink. We are slowly getting our kitchen back but it's been a long haul. Bruce will be re-staining the a fore mentioned item's as apparently painting isn't my strong point, (to say the least) Lol. Apparently I can sand though, Whoop de doo!
. Anyways when I have the grouting down and the lightning up, we'll take more pictures..Keeping you all posted.

I'm really looking forward to some backsplash pictures, too, Kathy.

We were at Lowes yesterday and I was looking. We saw a brownish glass pattern that we both liked, but I'm afraid that, with my countertops, that partocular backsplash would look way too busy. We're going up to Susquehanna Granite (where we got our countertops) next Saturday morning, to see what they have.

But I'm not worried. I have that lovely Light Sage paint on the kitchen walls, so if I can't find a backsplash that trips my trigger, it's OK. I will find something sometime. And I can wait.

We did a stripe of the patterned in the middle and use neutral color for the rest of it. That way it's not too busy.

Well the backsplash is technically in. B-I-L is coming back tomorrow to finish off the grout work. I took Pam's suggestion and bought some led lights the stick up under the counter. I love them light! They really make the backsplash and the counter top POP!  We hit a snag though. One of the electrical plugs needs to be fixed as we now call it "sparky", for good reason. Both Bruce and I have been zapped by the little beggar!!
Needless to say the electrician is coming back this evening to fix it. Then we will be putting up the last led lights on that side. My sister in law came and painted the kitchen to match the counter top and the backsplash tiles.

After this is all done I will be revealing the "Grand Finale".
. As it stands now, I all ready love it.
Everything is so functional now. Everything at my fingertips. No more crawling around on my hands and knees and rifling around trying to find a large server plate for when guest's come over.

I'll keep you posted.............
