I did a search here and on line before  I posted.  I am really confused, there are probiotics and prebiotics and dophilus.

I need a good, basic gut restorer for Obi.  I prefer no lactose, or maltodextrin.   I need to keep it simple, and prefer a powder or a liquid I can mix with their canned rabbit.

Recs here include BacPak, Dr. Mercola, Benebac, Natural Factors, Country Life Milk free.  I know by posting this I will get many opinions, but was hoping for a front runner recommendation.  Obi is my cat who throws  hairballs a lot and may have a touch of IBD...unclear from his symptoms.  TIA!

The Natural Factors is used by quite a few owners on this site.

The probiotics do need a base so that they can continue to grow, that is why you are seeing lactose or other sugars as an ingredient. Typically it is not a large amount, only what is required to keep the bacteria active.

Yes, the Natural Factors is a quality, simple probiotic, but it is in a goat milk base.

I think Renew Life has one with no lactose or maltodextrin. And I don't remember if the JarroDopholus has maltodextrin or not, but I'm pretty sure it is lactose-free. Here is a link to human-grade probiotics being used In IBD kitties, and the ingredients are listed: http://www.ibdkitties.net/Probiotics.html
