Last Saturday, I threw my best friend a shower. I cleared the living and dining rooms of furniture, and used 4 card tables throughout:

I made these fans as favors (I had a butterfly theme):

Some of the food (the savories were on the kitchen counter; no pix, sorry!):

More food:

I made butterfly place cards to look as if they were perching on the glasses:

A deep window sill makes a great gift table!

A good time was had by all! (All 13 of us!):

I forgot to add: much of the stuff came from the local dollar store. One of the guests raved about the decorations, and I whispered to her, "Thank you!! They came from the dollar store, though." "Yes, I know--I work there!"  Busted!!!

I'm still eating leftovers. The chicken salad is delicious over the spring greens. Three times a day. My nose is starting to twitch, I'm craving carrots, and hope I don't start breeding like rabbits...never should've bought the 3lb. bag of greens!

I took the candy and cupcakes into work to lessen temptation.

What a great job!  I don't have a creative bone in my body, so this kind of thing amazes me...especially on the cheap!

Thank you! The butterflies kept taking a nosedive into the glasses before the guests arrived, though!

The next step is the wedding rehearsal dinner next month. I'm doing something a bit different, less feminine, but with purples and lavenders and some of the same stuff, just used differently, and with sage green added--a sort of garden theme.

How beautiful! You did a great job with everything!

(I didn't see any kitties, though. How did you manage that? My gang would have been all over everything.)

Congratulations on a job well done. It is wonderful to have a person who organizes things so well.

thanks! Loki ("The Party Panther") did manage to cause trouble during the shower. We went into the family room to open gifts. I went to check on him, as we had flowers--sure enough, I found him eating the pansies on one table!  And he had knocked over a glass of something on one of the fans, ruining it.

They had their fun before the shower, as well. Apparently, the long tablecloth-draped tables make wonderful tents...they were little devils!

Nice! You did a great job!  I'm the same way, it doesn't have to cost a lot to pull something nice together.
