@Loopycann, Cece looks beautiful here, and quite a character.
She has wonderful big ears and huge whiskers to go with very fine features, cute as a button.  I am sorry she is not with you any more.   Thank you for posting her picture here with all our other beautiful blue cats.

I had Gracie for about 18 years, before she past away last week, she was very sweet girl, wish I knew the full breed type since she had long grey hair and not short, or is this normal for a blue?

What a stunning photograph of Gracie, I am very sorry for your recent loss.
That's quite a look she is giving you with her green, green eyes!  Without a fully recorded pedigree history Gracie is a beautiful example of a long haired Maltese cat.

Although most of the pictures we have on this thread are of short hairs so far, there are some lovely long hair cats here - especially on page 1.  There is a rare breed of cat recently recognised by GCCF in the UK known as the Nebelung and they are long hair gray cats bred with Russian Blue heritage I think.  There are a a couple of TCS members who have Nebelung, and Gracie has that lovely look to her with her long blue gray fur and green eyes.

Wow, great information I never knew the breed, I thought it was a off shot of a blue and I was close. I looked the breed up you suggested and I am amazed how accurate the description is, this was 100% her:

Devoted to their owners and family members, the highly intelligent Nebelungs can be shy with strangers and young children. Kittens need time to adjust to their new home and should be allowed to make their own advances to their new family. As the new family member settles in, the playful Nebelung will becoming a loving companion cuddling into a lat for petting and often following its owners from room to room to remain in their company. They are active, affectionate, good-natured cats that prefer the company of their own family to that of visiting strangers.

I found this video about the breed and says pretty much the same thing as the  above:

Thanks :)

Nice video link @owest.  I had seen the one about the Russian Blue but not the Nebelung; very interesting. Thank you again.  I can completely understand why your Maltese Gracie  is so precious in your heart - with both Nebelung appearance and character.    You have been very lucky in deed to have her in your lives.

lol im overrun by greys...lol charlotte gizzy n bob poor shadow is out numbered....lol

now are they blues or just common greys????
Ha ha, poor little Shadow.  In my lay person opinion I'd describe Bob and Gizmo as having blue gray fur, and Donald
too.  Charlotte is a very pretty little grey tabby with white perhaps?  Ever thought of letting another little cat in to keep Shadow company in the 'colourful' kitty corner?

Ty!! Her fur is extremely thick, she feels like velvet. She is the biggest cuddle bug, if you are on the couch or in bed, she is right there with you lol. She was affection starved when we first got her, and she hasn't stopped since, we are just in love. She's a short an stumpy little thing, and VERY, round lol. Makes her that much cuter tho, and yes, those little claws will get you haha :)

I am getting confused with names catmama21, is your lovely girl called Ty or Nina?  She looks like you could just sink in to that fur it's so dense!  Lovely (apart from her claws

Well technically I would Say Blue, but the video I posted a link to states the http://www.animalplanet.com/tv-shows/cats-101/videos/nebelung.htm are related to a blues, yet somehow the parents were not blues that gave birth to Neblung, so I am really confused how any of this really happens :)

ow
If you cross  a black with a white cat chances are that whichever is dominant will be the color of the kittens, usually black. The following generation with identical parents (in this case all black) will most likely have at least one white kitten but this one also will carry the black genes. The black kittens will also carry the white genes. So it goes with all colorings, fur length and type, body build, eye color etc (ever notice how some people resemble their grandparents or their uncles or aunts but not their parents? Same thing.)

Thus, the Nebelung cat had a) a long-haired grandparent which did NOT give its long hair to its kitten but gave it the black color from some great-grandparent

                                                   b) a possibly Russian Blue grandparent which gave its blue/grey color to its kitten

these two kittens both had short hair

So: a longhaired grandparent on one side, a Russian Blue grandparent (or at least the genes of one) on the other side; a black parent  and a  Russian Blue gene carrier and you get a Nebelung which has the long hair of the grandparent on one side and the grey/blue coloring on the other side.

This is plain Mendelian genetics.

Now are you more confused than before?
