Hi there! I am wanting to transition my cat jazzy, from an all dry food diet to a wet diet with dry treats on occasion. I have read about the benifits of a wet food diet and want to change, but whats the best way to go about it? Jazzy has been on a dry food diet for a while, and when i have gave her a can of wet food she takes a few bites, pukes it up, and wont touch it again. I know she doesnt like the paste or pate style wet foods, and likes for her food to be thick and chunky.

Whats a good wet food brand and dry treat that has good nutrition, has a selection of thick or chunky styles, but wont break the bank?
I live in a small town, with the nearest petco or petsmart over fifty miles away, so something walmart carries would be easier to get.
Any advice would be helpful.

We have some articles here on transitioning to wet food.  It may take a while, though some kitties take right to the wet.  It will probably take awhile to make the transition and some kitties will still need some dry.  Getting them to eat as much wet versus dry as possible will also help.

Pate style foods are generally better because they are usually lower in carbs.  Some kitties much prefer the chunky type of food and it is certainly preferable to dry.

Friskies aren't bad and is probably the best brand as far as grocery store brands.  If you are at a Petsmart or Petco their store brands are pretty good.  I think Petsmart's brand is called Authority and Petco's is called Soulistic.

Watch her weight during the transition.  My Boo didn't protest when I was transitioning him from a mostly dry to a mostly canned diet, but after I bought a scale I found he's lost an entire pound.  I gave him back his dry food.  Even if your cat can stand to lose some weight, you don't want it to happen too fast.  That can cause a lethal liver problem.  Start with just a little wet food.
