If my pointed domestic (with extra toes) has kittens with my doll faced himalayan (normal toes) what is the chance of facial structure in kittens as well as the extra toes?

pointed domestics parents had normal domestic faces (toes unknown) and male himalayan's parents had one flat face and one doll face both with normal toes

Howdy ho Cat Lovers,

Extra toes, polydactyla, is a dominant trait in cats.  We know the gene (SHH - Sonic hedgehog) and mutations.  Two mutations are common to Great Britain and one is common to the USA - known as the Hemingway mutation.  The descendant cats of Hemingway's are polydactyla and still live on his estate in Key West, Florida.  So, as a dominant trait, your cat likely has only one copy, and 50% of offspring will have extra toes.  Hard to predict how many and where though.

The inheritance of facial structure is less well known.  However, if you breed long face (dolichocephalic) to short faced (brachycephalic), I think you will get something in the middle (mesocephalic), actually more towards short face though.  We have breed Persians with Orientals in our colony of cats and we get intermediate, but definitely on the shorter side for faces.
