I dont know where you are located, b t are you expecting any snowstorms in the near future?  It seems like a drop in barometric pressure that comes before storms trigger something in animals that causes labor to begin.  We had a snowstorm here on the fifth when Abby had her kittens. I remember back on the farm that it seemed like the lambs were always born in bad weather.

Ah, surely a natural defence against predators.  When the weather is really bad or its raining heavily, they predators dont hunt.  Also, the airborne smells and sounds are washed down.

Good remark, purrpoints awarded!

Being historically interested, a memory arises: the convoys between USA and Europe, during the world wars, were severely plauqed by u-boats wolf packs and or air-bomber strikes. They did always welcomed heavy full storm weather.

True, full storm was no pleasure journey, and quite risky.   But none of the boats get torpedoed, so the passage in full storm or even orkans, was at least as safe as with a heavy military escort.

Each cat is different when it comes to nesting.  Abby was looking at different spots in the house for a few weeks before but the spot where she had the kittens was not a place that was of any interest to her until about 4 hours before birth.  Since cats are naturally nocturnal by nature, there is a good chance of a night birth.  I am sure when you go on vacation you are having someone check on her.  If you trust this person, I would have them stay overnight until she has the kittens.  This way there will be someone there if there is a problem and also I am sure you will feel better knowing someone is with her.

I wrote down Thursday 13th her due date cause her belly was really moving on 30th Jan, but I still could be wrong. On the plus side of things she been with us 3 weeks so she had good 3 week's of nourishment and time to settle in (that's probably reason for all this nesting, New surroundings)

She has been pulling at carpet bits that are coming away! Need to snip them. They both nest at night then. I think she will have them at 1am and it's funny cause that's what time it was when she came to me!
