Oh my. I hope she makes it, too! Poor Otter. Can you ask the vet about giving her sub-q fluids at home? It'll be a small cost (relatively speaking) and will keep her hydrated.

UDPATE: 835am. Good news is Otter has not vomited. However, she also has not poop. She is also nearly acting like her old self, a lot more than before. They went a head and put SQ fluids in on their behalf, so she has a nice little water bump right now. I havnt fed her anything yet, too afraid, although she has been finding dry pieces off the floor.

GoHolstic: Both mine and my girlfriends bank account has hit zero, and I still owe them $218. Im going to me regular vet tomorrow...they are not open on weekends...because I have over two hundred saved in their credit bank thing.

Oh no!  Your poor little thing.  Did they give you any suggestions on how to help her go poop?
Just said to keep her hydrated. I still have Laxatone, but I am afraid to give that to her at this point. Weruva has a moist food that is a chicken/pumkin mix, so I have been feeding that to her when feeding time comes around.

UPDATE: 2:50pm. Otter is driving me insane. The SQ fluids must have been the boost she needed because right now she is acting like her old self...aka driving me up the wall. She is extremely hungry, but I am still keeping her on the strict every two hour minimal feeding. I don't know if when the SQ fluids dissipates if she will crash or not. I am going to call and update the ER Vet later tonight (it turns out the night staff there is a lot more friendlier and helpful than the day staff) and I am taking off work tomorrow to go to my regular vet. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

And for the money help, I have care credit, but only twenty bucks available. I tried to do an emergency increase, but the hours were closed and when I called this morning, I was even denied a $50 dollar increase. I do have insurance, but I still have to pay in full before being reimbursed. And the third option that the vet does is they hold a check and cash it within the time frame of two weeks (which would work because I get paid in two weeks). Well the check has to be approved by this system first....but it was denied (I called, and they told me it was a fluke).

UPDATE: 958pm. Otter nearly refused her 930 feeding. After a little coaxing from her sister did she eat a few bites. Still no BM or water drinking.

This is not looking good. Is she going to vet soon? Have they considered an enema? She will needs fluids very soon again. Probably have to have more X-rays to see if it moved. I fear it might be stuck.

She licked an ice cube and ate a few pieces of dry. Her next feeding is..well now..hold on.......which she is currently eating. My vet doesn't open for another 8 hours and 34 minute (I have a timer). The ER vet cannot do any more treatment because of no money. She was going to get an enema when I first took her to be on the safe side, but like I said they had to stop treatment.

Have you tried talking to the local Humane Society or ASPCA? They often have a bit of money set aside for cases such as yours.
After I lost my job, we had an emergency with one of my cats (squashed in the recliner, broken nose), and they donated $100 for a vet visit. The approval process was short, just a phone interview with the office manager about our situation. They then gave me a choice of 3 approved vets to see. We were on our way to the vet within an hour and our visit went on their account. It is worth a try, and would be enough money for an office visit and possibly an enema, if needed.

Oh, and the SubQ bump is fine. It takes the body a while to gradually absorb all the liquid. Sometimes, they can be there for up to 24 hours. If you like, you can very gently rub it to help disperse the liquid more evenly under the skin. I will say a prayer for you and Otter! :vibes::vibes::vibes:

Pumpkin can have the opposite effect with some constipated cats so just keep that in mind, it can make the constipation worse.  If I were you, given your situation I would give the Laxatone a try.  This website talks about constipation in cats and how to treat it.  http://www.felineconstipation.org/acutetreatment.html  It can take some time for subq fluids to dissapate but you should not be feeling a large bump at this point and time as it has almost been 24 hours.  So that is of some concern.   Have you seen this thread?  http://www.thecatsite.com/t/155462/cant-afford-a-vet-please-read

I was given an estimate by the doctor who was at the ERVet and it was $638 (IV + overnight stay + second xray +something else I cant remember)(and sadly, this was the cheapest ER vet that was not five hours away). I already had to pay for the initial visit plus first xray which was $293. They gave Otter the SQ fluid on their behalf. My personal vet has $200+ credit from me, and they will allow me to pay when I get paid again, but they do not open for another 7 and a half hours.

Because you know more about the SQ fluid than I do, will she still drink with it in her?

You're doing everything you possibly can then. Please keep us updated. You're a good mom.

Happy poop dance! :banana2:
Sorry, I misunderstood and thought you were tapped out at the regular vet. The ER vet has taken my last penny more times than I care to admit! I hope your visit to the vet goes well tomorrow.

I also apologize. I forget most people to think of a regular vet first when it comes to finance talks.
