Beautiful pics everyone.

Its so hard (for me) to get a picture of my black cats - I currently have 4.

It was (and is) easier to get ones of my greys (both have passed on), my calico (also passed on) and my 2 tuxedoes.

Luvbug (our current oldest)

Lil' Jag (LB's girlfriend and adopted daughter)

Fang

And Fang's brother Drooler

One of the things you have to realize that it takes many pics to get a good one. Thanks to digital cameras that is no problem, you just delete the ones that don't turn out well and most of them won't.

Black cats are hard to photograph against a light background as the camera has a hard time to decide which aperture to use, it's even harder with a regular camera. You might try to have the cat some distance away and then try the "close-up" feature on your camera but be aware that then the picture might not be very sharp. Too much light or light that is too close on a black cat will make the fur reflect the light and make the cat appear to be grey. Try NOT to use the flash as that usually gives red devil's eyes (or sometimes green ones or bright yellow when the cat has blue eyes depending on the back of the cat's eyes), If you have to use a flash then put the camera up high or to the side so the cat won't stare into the camera. If the cat is on the floor you need to get down there too, you need to be on the same level of the cat to get a good picture. I have found that if you keep the camera close to you so when you see a cute pose you can immediately take a pic. Don't try to "pose" your cat, it doesn't work, the cat will not cooperate. It helps to have another person with a fishing pole toy to make the cat look up away from the camera and hold still if you really want a "portrait". My cat Panthera (my avatar) is particularly mellow when it comes to pics, he does not seem to be bothered, but my other cats do not cooperate at all, I just have to catch them. Probably hundreds of pics have been deleted.

Great photo of two black, black kitties.  It does look like they are hypnotising you, esp that little one!

It was one nanosecond in time of no shenanigans from the two.   Hahaha!

They are something else.  Si was my DHs first experience owning a cat, and 9mos later, he owns two.    Si was 8mos old when we became family.   The DH had not had the chance to fully appreciate a kitten in the house until Monty.

Everyone here will appreciate what my hubby posted on his facebook a couple of days ago:
I woke up at 3AM in the middle of a cat highway.  Obviously there was no speed limit.  I estimate they were doing 90mph the 47 times they ran over me.

Oh, that's hilarious. He should talk to my DH. He'd never owned a pet until we got married, now we have ten cats plus a colony to take care of, plus foster kittens that we try to re-home every year. Poor guy, I don't know how he puts up with it.
