Hello!

As a first-time cat parent, I have so many questions! Right now my kitty, Olive, a 13-week-old British shorthair, is not drinking as much water as I would like. I know cats don't have a huge thirst drive so I'm trying to figure out how to get her to drink more. I just got her to eat wet food, so that's a good source of water, but I want to get her a fountain.

Anyone have suggestions on the best cat fountain? I'm looking for a smaller sized fountain, but whatever is best (big or small) is good, too. (I am considering the Catit "Senses" Fountain, so if anyone knows about that one, that would be amazing!)

Thanks everyone!

Elizabeth

I like the Pioneer Pet teardrop fountains.  You can get stainless steel or ceramic.  I like them because they aren't plastic and the fact that I can take the filters apart, wash them and fill them with new carbon (I get aquarium carbon without the chemicals).  Recycling the filters has saved me a ton of money, as I have five fountains!

I just bought a ceramic one on Amazon for around $40.

I'm not sure there is a right or wrong when it comes to a fountain.  As ten different people and you'll probably get ten different opinions!  I, personally, have a Drinkwell Platinum and it serves the purpose.  It's plastic, comes apart easily for washing purpose (can be put in the dishwasher, but I never have) has charcoal filters that I can rinse out and reuse), blah, blah, blah.

The main thing is...will you furbaby use it?  Does he like to drink from the faucet?  If so, then he will probably love having his own personal faucet
.  If not, he may or may not use it.  One of our never used the fountain, and even though he is no longer with us, to this day I still keep a bowl of water right next to the fountain, because another of ours just has a hard time drinking from the fountain.  Every time he tries, he start coughing.  I guess he's a slow learner
.

Anyway, here is a link to our Reviews page, which lists a few fountains where some of our members have posted reviews on their favorite or least favorite fountains: http://www.thecatsite.com/products/category/fountains

I have the Pioneer Pet Big Max water fountain. It is huge ! Perfect for my kitties who love to play with water. So easy to clean, which is nice.
