Hi Sandi,
my name is Terry and I have six kitties. I'm also from New England, Western Ma. My hubby and I are kitty lovers as well and we've rescued many kitties over the years and some have already gone home to kitty heaven. We have also rescued other animals as well. I hope you read my story about Surry, our new addition to the family here. We were set on not getting any more kitties at this point in our lives, but Surry chose us and we couldn't refuse him just knowing that he belonged here with us.

At one point years ago we had 14 kitties when one of ours gave birth to six and hubby's mother passed away leaving us her six that no one would take, but us. That wasn't easy....lol. Lots of food and litter not to mention keeping them clean and healthy. We were down to five after many years and his mother kitties passing on of old age. Most of them lived to be in their early twenties before they passed on. Then Surry showed up on our doorstep and we fell in love with him...now we have six. Our other kitties are getting on in age and all the same age because they were the kittens from one other rescue we couldn't part with. They're all about 13 years old accept for Surry our little boy who we assumed is about a year or so old.

They're all inside kitties accept for Surry who does like to go outside and play in the sun for a while, but never goes very far from home. We also have a little scruffy dog whose name is Gunny. Gunny loves his kitty siblings and plays with them all of the time although some aren't as willing as others...lol

This looks like a great site with many cat lovers as ourselves. I hope to enjoy the info and stories from others as well. I'll be posting pics as soon as I get them loaded.

Hi Terry, it is good to meet you. It's really nice to interact with people with the same interest, especially cats lol. Thanks so much for your support and story. I wanted to know how your elder cats took to Sorry? I also only have 1 cat that goes outside, only during the day. Never at night, too many critters. I live in central Vermont. That kitty would probably be my main concern if I were to bring that kitty into my household. Naturally, I would do a slow introduction, very slow. That's why I was interested how you introduced your baby cat with your older ones. Thanks again

Hi IrishCat,

Amazingly, the elder cats accepted him right off the bat! He just burst through our front door and chose us...LOL Out of the six cats we now have, I only have two that go outside and never at night. They both come inside at night. Like you said...there's too many wild critters roaming at night. We've got those fisher cats here now and on occasion I hear one screeching. Surryboy always comes when I call him and Mia never goes any further than our front porch or back deck.

Surry never needed an intro...amazing as that sounds...he just made himself at home here and in our hearts. The other girls were never bothered by him one bit, but they have been around other cats all of their lives, so it's not that surprising that they just kind of look at him like..."oh here comes another one".. :lol3: He truly is amazing. I have a pic of him, but I haven't loaded it on the PC yet. I will soon though. :wavey:
