I ended up at the mall this morning and walked throughout. Stopped in at Penny's, Bon Ton, Boscov's, all of the stores, but didn't buy much at all. Well, Boscov's had a Buy One Get One sale on underwear and I did take advantage of that. With losing weight, I needed some. I used to buy quite a bit at Penny's, but then the new CEO took over and they bottomed out big time. It got to be a struggle to find much of anything at Penny's. And I didn't see much of anything today either.

Then I went to Christopher and Banks. I bought a gorgeous jacket, a blouse, a sweater, and a tank top, all in beautiful fall colors. I might go back down tonight, too because they had a beautiful necklace that would go so well with the sweater.....and if you bought the necklace, the earrings were 50% off. And I have a $10 coupon that I can use toward the necklace. I talked to dear Richard after I got home and he told me to go back down; he'd pay for the jewelry for me when he got home on Thursday.

I love Coldwater Creek, especially their pants, but also some of their shirts are really pretty, too. There's not a CC real close, so I usually stop in when we're on our way down to the see the kids or coming back from seeing the kids.

When you're looking at clothing, what's your store? Is there a special store that you find yourself going back to for shopping?

We have a local store here called Bealls where we both buy lots of things. Actually we were in the mall recently and checked out JCPenney. They seem to have improved a lot and had some really good prices.

Most of my clothing is either from an outlet store or was bought during a clearance sale. :lol3: I've never had much interest in clothes, don't have to get dressed up for work, and hate to pay full price. What's worse is that if I like something - a pair of jeans, a long-sleeved T-shirt, blazer or top, I buy several at once in various colors, so my wardrobe is also monotonous.

I  think I like Deb's and TJ Max alot . I used to go to Steve & Barry's until they went out of business. They had really cheap items for sale.

I order from Beall's online!  Not clothes, because I like to purchase local for easy returns if needed.  But I buy stuff like luggage from them.  They're great. Around here there isn't much selection.  Usually I go to Belk.

My sister loves Kohl's. I can't find a thing there that I like and that fits me OK. I can't find anything at TJ Maxx and we don't have Marshalls.

Lana, you are right about Penny's. I just bought a pair of Worthington pants there a couple weeks ago; had a 20% coupon that I was able to use and they were on sale. I used to love their St. John's Bay jeans; they fit me beautifully. I'll have to see if they brought St. John's Bay back, I never cared much for their Cabin Creek brand.

I'm one who will also buy more than one of something if I like it enough. I'll buy the same shirt in different colors sometimes. And I always have a bunch of plain white t-shirts on hand because I can do so much with them when layering for work. Penny's just had their t-shirts on sale for $4.99, so I bought three white t-shirts yesterday.

Oh, and I did go back down to the mall last night for the necklace and earrings. Rick told me to before the sale ended so I'd have them. I'm wearing the earrings to work today.

I like Kohls, and I usually do well at TJ Maxx and Marshalls. There's a store at my mom's mall that's called "Garage" and I love it.

I used to shop at Macy's, but they are getting ridiculous with their exclusions on coupons and I gave up on them because of it.. everything I wanted was excluded from coupon use.

I love Kohls.  I just did 2 sprees there; one for me for the first time in 3 years and one for the kids fall/winter things.  I wait till I get the whatever percent off in the mail and use my kohls card; which we pay off right away.  The savings do add up!!  I used to go down to the outlets for the kids and clear out the OshKosh and Carter's stores...  Loved it and they had good sales too; but I do even better at Kohls.  I also shop their clearance racks!!  Especially to buy ahead for the kids!  For me it's harder; but I figure it out.  I figure it's not their fault I'm this shape and size!
My Aunt has "the touch" when it comes to shopping those clearance racks for my kids.  She makes out well doing that at Macys too.  I don't even walk in that store in our mall!

I alsio used to like Pennys; but I went in last week looking for a fall coat and holy moley!  The prices were crazy and the selection extremely limited!  I did manage to find DD a bathing suit there for about $10 last spring; but that's it!  The last time I did a shopping for myself like I just did at Kohls it was at Penny's.  I think I spent about $100 less this time and got more too.  I mostly wear long sleeved t's in the winter but I also got some casual sweaters, jeans, dress pants and some nicer casual shirts.  It's finding anyting more on the dressy side that is so hard.  I used to wear cute tops with my jeans; but why when I'm home most of the time?

We're headed for the mall tomorrow. I got some nice workout pants and shorts at Penny's a few weeks ago at a great price, h ope they still have them. I also buy a lot of costume jewelry earrings there. I've been on a real earring kick lately. Since Penny's changed their pricing strategy and now offers coupons and discounts, I find it's a much nicer store to shop in. That last "one price" campaign really flopped. People just like to use coupons and feel they're getting something special. Sometimes you get a great deal, sometimes it's just in your mind, but overall if you price-check a lot you can get good deals. I agree with Pam about buyng a few of the same things. Should have done that with the workout shorts last time I was there.

I shop everywhere x3 Mostly Forever 21. Torrid, Hot Topic, Deb for some cheap skirts and eBay. TJ maxx&Ross is awesome when you find great items. But my true love is thrift stores, I'm a thrift rat. I buy things at local thrift stores and alter them to my liking. I wear lots of dark colors, mostly black. So maybe I wouldn't be helpful if you want "work" like attire. My mother calls my attire eccentric ha ha.

You sound like my BFF when we were younger (that is a compliment, btw!).  She still does thrift stuff and makes a lot of things too.  You'd never know.  I don't know that she's shopped any of those stores lately.  LOL I  guess we are just "too old" for Deb now.
But they moved it out of our mall anyway.  Anyway...  BFF could do some amazing things altering clothing.  For our junior prom we found this black beaded and sequined dress from who knows what decade (she'd tell you, I don't remember!).  It was sort of a "mermaid" cut.  She altered the bust and straps; found a really neat vintage diamond broach for the bustline.  I forget what else she did to that one.  But she topped it off with white feather angel wings and sequined silver gloves.  She looked great!

Bluenotes and Stitches. Both Canadian only, I believe. I also like Winners, Old Navy (when they have good sales). The rest of my clothes either come from places like Wal Mart or various thrift stores.

I can really relate to this:  I'll also buy quite a few of one thing if they fit that criteria (and not necessarily in different colours!)

But comfort and natural fibres are my big things, so I'll often shop at markets where people handmake that kind of thing.

When I can afford it, or when things are on special, I buy from Elliot Kennedy (designer), Blue Illusion (shop) or sustainablefashion.com.au (online).

Like you and Mani; I also buy several of the same thing.  When all you wear is long or short sleeved t-shirts; what else can you do?  I try to find some with a little pattern or detail to them.  But still!  Even as a teenager it was hard to shop.  I was thin; but I had a woman's figure so the teen stores and juniors sections were difficult to shop in even then.  I did a little better at my one job that was semi-casual; only 2 of each item!
Dressing up was fun for the first year or so...after that; not so much!  I got to wear scrubs to my next job.  That got old after a year also and I went back to business casual!  Now...I couldn't get much more casual!

If jeans weren't so expensive I'd probably buy several of the same.  When I'm home its some kind of yoga or sweat pant; so I really don't need many pairs of jeans anyway.  I just bought a pair so right now I have twice as many as last year!

I've noticed that my mother now dresses better than I do.  She's also got a fancier cell phone.  I guess her time has come!

Our shopping in town is limited to Penny, Belk or TJ Maxx. I wear petite sizes and that further limits me. The Penny store doesn't carry much in petite sizes, nor does TJ Maxx. When I go to Belk, I can never find a top and bottom that match. It was recently remodeled, but still can't find anything there and I hear other people say the same. Most of the time, I go to the thrift store. Last week I shopped at Belk and could not find a pair of pants and a top that I could wear together for casual/dress like Wednesday night church.
I went to the Thrift store the next day and bought four tops and two pairs of pants for twenty three dollars. Pants were Ruby Rd, name brand from Belk, tops were Lands End and Talbots, also name brands. I brought them home, dried everything in the dryer twenty minutes, washed in the washer, dried on the line outside, then dried in the dryer another twenty minutes, then ironed everything. I figured they got enough heat to kill any critters if there were any. Of course I inspect everything before I bring it inside and keep it all sealed up until it hits the dryer and washer.

I'm not a big fan of coupons for that very reason....that everything I really want is excluded from the coupon. That's particularly true of our Boscov's store at the mall. You get a 30% coupon, which sounds really good. But there's a list a yard long of brands and items that are excluded from the coupon. So at that point, why bother?

The Penny's coupon that I used also had a list of exclusions, but thankfully Worthington wasn't on the list so I was able to use it for the pants.

My sister gets a lot of 30% coupons from Kohl's. She spends a small fortune there, though, every time she shops. It's not just for her; my niece shops there and so does my niece-in-law and they use my sister's Kohl's card, so she always has something on the card. They all pay it off every month, though, so it's not too bad. It's a way they can take advantage of the sales and the coupons and such.

For jeans we'll hit the Vanity Fair outlet in Reading, PA. Lees are usually about $18 a pair, so Rick will buy 4-5 pairs at a time. We go down about twice a year and combine that trip with other shopping we do in the area. It's an all-day venture for us. I can't see spending $35 for a pair of jeans....it boggles my mind. Even on sale around here, Lees can be expensive sometimes. Rick won't wear anything but Lees, hence the outlet shopping trip.

TJ maxx in my area has tons of petite sizes O: And I too love thrift stores for the great prices you end up spending x3

My very favorite place! There are smaller VF outlets elsewhere in the U.S., but nothing beats Reading. Is the candy outlet still there? We used to buy jeans, robes, etc., at VF and then go buy the peanut butter cup "seconds". When I visit my sister I always hit VF in Nebraska City.
