I have an old (really old, like 30+ years old, maybe) pair of Dr. Scholl's sandals. In blue. I've worn those things into the ground and then some. These are the sandals that I'm constantly falling out of; they're stretched way out of shape and the bottoms are so worn that the wood is showing through. The last time I fell down the basement steps, it was because I fell out of the sandals and ended up in a clump at the bottom of the steps at the basement door, carrying a load of laundry. It was ugly. Yet....I still wear them. Around the house, out for the mail. Never in public as "ratty" doesn't even begin to describe them.

And....they're on my feet. And I'm at work. This is embarrassing to say the least. I put my pair of capris on and I distinctly remember taking off those sandals to put the pants on. I was going to walk over to the computer room (my closet is there) and grab a pair of sandals, but evidently thinking about it was as far as I got.

I got out of Clarence this morning and, as soon as I started walking through the parking lot and heard the clunk-clunk-clunk-clunk (they're really, really LOUD), I knew. And mentally, I'm going

. Walked into the building and the guy in the lobby said he heard me walking a mile away. My GF was in the lobby and she looked at my feet, her eyes got big, and she said, "What the **** are you wearing?" I shook my head, said, "Don't even go there!" and walked away. Loudly.

I hate Mondays....even when they're Tuesdays.

OMG Pam that's hysterical.  Do you have an extra pair of shoes or sneakers you can wear if the office even allows that.  Just keep your feet under the desk and try not to walk around the office today

No, that's the problem. I never bring shoes with me bc I'm not walking at lunch right now. Oh well. I'm hiding out in my office as much as I can.

Honestly, I don't know where my mind is......I can't believe that I'm actually wearing these at work (hiding in my office).

After I fell down the basement steps the last time, I took them off and threw them in the "to go to the landfill" pile in the basement. And, about ten minutes later, I went back down and took them back out of the pile. Perhaps it is time for them to be thrown away....

....and buy another pair. Poor things.

Nobody can say that I don't wear my things out.

Oh poor you!!

I did know a girl in college who showed up one day in 2 different shoes.  A blue and  brown!  I think the heels were even different heights!

LOL! Pam, they really need replacing!

Don't feel bad. I've worn my slippers to work, and one time I managed to come home in my stocking feet - I'd taken my shoes off at school and completely forgotten to put them back on. I wondered why people were giving me funny looks and didn't realize what I'd done till my husband asked why I was walking around outside without shoes on.

Winchester, those shoes have to go out before you fall down those stairs AGAIN...

Doing just one of these you have to have 'style', to do both?  Well, it's a stunning achievement!

I used to have nightmares about going to school in my slippers.   Best I've done was wear a pull on shirt in side out for an entire morning at work and not one of my colleagues told me.
Didn't notice until I was having my lunch and caught a glimpse of my shoulder - seems and stitching and all, label no doubt at the back just in case someone missed it.  Reason to wake up properly before getting dressed.

I think they still make those sandals.  You could buy a brand new pair for like $40.00.  I have done the same thing with old shoes though and I don't know why I do it.

You gave me a good laugh with this post. l hope you managed to hide successfully.

lt looks like you're harder on your left shoe than the right. Either that or you're heavier on your left side
You should stand on the scale on your right leg on weigh-in Fridays!

I felt like an idiot today. *clunk-clunk, clunk-clunk*

I'm going to have to throw these away, but not before I can find another pair. I love wearing these. Always have.

I never noticed that my left sandal is far worse then the right until you mentioned it, Andrya. That left one might be the one that Banshee
used to poke her head through all the time. She also liked to chew on the sandals....maybe that's part of not throwing them away, too.

Come Friday, I will stand only on my right leg and see what happens!

Hey Mooch, thanks! Ordered! I was going to wait and order them next spring, but I wear these all year 'round in the house. I put them on as soon as I get out of bed in the morning (to avoid unpleasant hairball surprises and the like) and I take them off before I go to bed at night. Other than at work or going out, those ratty things are on my feet. Talked to dear Richard last night and he told me to go ahead and order them. And then I will get rid of these. Honest.

No leopard, though
. I think it's called Elegant Blue
Wish they had them in a dark red!

A couple years ago, I was sitting in the cafe here at work, talking to one of the ladies. There was something sticking out of one of the legs of her jeans. I asked her what it was, she reached down and....it was her panties from the day before! She was a little embarrassed, but I said, "Well, at least you're wearing panties!" We got a good laugh out of it.

I have come to work with different colored socks from time to time, largely because it's difficult sometimes for me to see the difference between dark navy blue and black. So I might have worn a black sock with a navy sock. But I've never come to work in mis-matched shoes! (I have come close though; I have two pairs of the same boots, one a real dark brown and one black. In the morning, when I'm bleary-eyed anyway, it's hard to see the difference.)

Oh I'd love dark red ones too!  I wear my croc flip flops around the house a lot like that.  At least in the summer; flip flops don't work with regular socks.  Mostly I prefer to be barefoot though....DH gets up first so I guess I don't worry much about land mines! hehe

I did the pantie thing at a youth group sleepover when I was in middle school.  A few of the girls and I were in oen room changing into sweats and when I stuck my leg into one I pushed a pair of panties out.  Being all of 13 I about died of embarrassment.

I'm glad you've found a replacement!

I wore a pair of one black, one brown beat-up old sandals today!  And I think I accidentally trashed one brown one, and kept one.  But, at least I was home today!

I've have worn 2 different-colored shoes to work several times--one black, one navy (both the same style).
