I need help. :(
Alright, so I just adopted my kitten last weekend and I've never had a cat before so I'm really worried about some issues she's been having.
1.) Sneezing -- She doesn't sneeze often but she's done it at least twice everyday since last weekend when I brought her home. Is this normal? Also, I've noticed she has dried mucus on her nose I tried cleaning it off but it's really stuck on there & I'm afraid I'll hurt her if I try pulling it off.
2.) Litter box -- she is trained and all but when she goes she meows a lot and sometimes she just digs and digs and ends up not going.. :(
I did make an appointment with a vet for Saturday so I'll be sure to ask about these problems but any advice I get here would be very helpful.
Btw here's a picture of my kitten, she was very sleepy here lol.

Hi, i adopted two kittens last Thursday and both of them started sneezing and it turns out they have the flu which is common in cats from adoption homes, i would take your kitten to the vet and get her checked out, it might not be flu it might just be a change of envirment , but she needs seeing by a vet .

Hope she is okay and congratulations she looks gorgeous x

try also wetting a cottom ball with some cooled boiled water to loosen the mucus so it wont pull when you remove it.

Is she eating and drinking okay ?

if not buy a feeding syringe and just squirt a tiny bit in the side of her mouth not directly down the throat , just in the side so she can swallow it .

Omg today in the morning she sneezed and a little bit of blood came out with the mucus she also threw up..it was like yellow/clear liquid. I'm so scared for her right now she has a vet appointment tomorrow so hopefully I'll find out what's wrong with her then. She is eating ok I think? I filled her food bowl all the way on Saturday and she has eaten about 2/3 of it..is that not enough food? I just hope she is ok.

it sounds like a blood vessel burst it happens to us when we get a cold, as for the vomiting maybe because of the strain of sneezing.

She may have thrown up because she's got a lot of drainage going on.  Sounds like she's got an upper respiratory infection, which is very common when bringing a new kitty home.  The stress of a new home, new sounds, new smells, new humans will often trigger a kitty cold.  Keep her warm.  Make sure she continues to eat and drink.  Give her some yummy canned food warmed up a bit in the microwave or in a water bath to help entice her to eat.

So the vet told us she has an upper respiratory tract infection :( they gave her an antibiotic injection(convenia) and gave us some Lysine chews for us to give her at home over the next 2 weeks. They also said she was a little thin for her age and recommended we give her canned food in addition to her dry food.so do you guys know of any good canned food for kittens?

I kinda figured that she had a URI.  Just to ease your mind, it's very, very, very common for new kitties to come down with an URI within about 2 weeks of going into a new home.  Good for you for keeping an eye on her and getting her to the vet.  One thing I am unhappy about is that they gave her the Convenia shot.  Please, please keep a very close eye on her.  If you notice ANY adverse side effects, call the vet IMMEDIATELY and/or get her to the ER vet.  There's a thread with some side effects that have been observed by owners.  http://www.thecatsite.com/t/244226/convenia-side-effects

As for the food, she's probably lost a bit of weight from not feeling well.  Did the vet give you any a/D food?  If not, ask for it on Tuesday after the holiday weekend.  Until then, any high quality canned food will work.  I like Wellness kitten food or Innova EVO.  Both are grain-free.  Royal Canin kitten food is also good.  You'll need to feed her about 4 times a day with wet food if possible.  Give her as much as she'll eat.

I'm seriously about to cry. I just read some posts on that thread and I see her experiencing some of those side effects. She does seem very tired and she won't play like she used to and sometimes when she stands up it looks like her legs are barely holding her up. Maybe it's just a little too early to tell for sure. Ugh. I hope nothing bad happens.
No the vet didn't give her any food but I went to the store today and got her some fancy feast canned food she seemed to really like it so that's good.

I have had two kitties get the Convenia shot.  Like you, I just went with what the vet said; I didn't know any different.  Both of my girls were like zombies for about 10 days.  The good thing is that the body needs rest to get well, so that's good.  It is a bit disconcerting when they're listless and lethargic.  Watch for heavy breathing and walking/wobbling.  If you see those, call the vet or get her to an ER vet immediately.  Shivering is another side effect to look for.  Most likely, she'll be fine, but know what to look for.

So she started playing again. She's running, pouncing, and biting like normally but she can't climb up as high as she used to. You're right though, the body does need rest so maybe she'll go back to feeling 100% better in no time. Did you wait the 10 days to know your girls were feeling better or did you take them to the vet?

glad you know whats wrong with you kitten now and treatment has started, my kittens both were lethargic for a few days and went a bit wobbly, they both had an injection which was antibiotic but i dont know the name of it as i didn't ask. But they were both very poorly and wouldn't eat or drink i gave them water from a feeding syringe which helped .

They are both a lot better now both eating well and playing and energetic once again, still bot on medication so it does take time to run its course.

I hope your little kitten gets better soon .

Aw thanks, I'm glad your kittens are doing good, but yeah she seemed a little off yesterday it looks like she is doing better today though. By the way, is it normal that her poo is really stinky now? I think it might be the result of the canned food but what do you guys think?

Sounds like she's feeling better!  Hope she continues to improve.  At the time they got the shot, I didn't know about Convenia.  The vet told me that they could be lethargic for several days, but to watch for other signs.  It was almost a last ditch effort with one kitty and it worked, for awhile.  Later, we discovered she had a different kind of infection that needed a specific drug.

yes my previous cat had all of those treatments, my two kittens are now 22 weeks old we are just waiting for Tinker's nasal passages to clear and then they both will be getting vaccinated and she will spayed when she is 24 weeks :)
