Iams or Science Diet

Which do you like best or think is the most healthy?

I said neither They both have by-products.

However, I am feeding Saki SD kitten food because that's all he'll eat, that's what they gave him at the shelter. When he's old enough I will let him eat Zoey's Chicken Soup for the soul.

They both eat Nutro wet.

I've never used Iams(except for a few cans) or SD but I've been very pleased with Innova.

I voted neither. The by-products and corn bother me. I feed Spike Nutro Natural Choice, and he's doing really well on it.

I actually tried feeding him Felidae, which is no by-products, no corn, no BHA/BHT, and is made of human grade meats. Of course, my little furball wouldn't eat it.

I don't know which I would pick if I had to choose between SD and Iams only. Thank goodness for pet supply stores.

Ive heard that SD is "vet recommended" because vets get it for free, and so then they recommend it. The ingredients in their "nature's best" isn't so bad, but the rest of it is filled with junk. Expensive junk.

I try to stay away from SD and Iams. I try to feed a food that is as 'natural' as possible and without a lot of fillers and dyes.

My girls eat Nutro, no by-products.

I feed my guys purina one dry and nutra max can.

Stopped using Iams. I buy Purina ONE for Ash.

I voted neither, though I have fed JC both (he keeps switching brands - he'll eat something for about three months and then won't touch it for another 6). I prefer to give him Felidae and Solid Gold. Other brands he likes are Nutro, Pinnacle and Eukanuba (all dry), and an organic canned food called Almo nature.

I used to feed Iams. then read (on this board) about their ingredients being changed, and switched to Nutro Natural. Amber liked it but I think she is getting a little pudgy (vet said she can lose a pound or so), so now I bought Royal Canin Indoor. Compared to Nutro, it has less fat content. Hopefully it will work on her fat pad! (even though I like to squish it every chance I get)

Other. We use Royal Canin Kitten at present.

I also voted for "other" If it has by-products in it........I will never feed it to my 3 furkids. My cats eat a mixture or Solid Gold, Wellness, and Chicken Soup every day for about a year now. I do not feed wet food at all. My cats are extremely healthy, and puke, poop, and shed very little for long hairs........lol

My boys eat Iams Original and love it.

I've tried every food out there and they turned their noses up- even got special food ordered at the Vet. Onyx has dry skin, and Iams is the only food that seems to keep him from scratching and getting flaky.

My last cat ate SD KD because she had to be on a special diet for her kidneys. My two new guys are getting Royal Canin for dry food & I'm working on finding a good can food that they like. I tried Iams kitten, & they ate it, but didn't seem to love it the way they have other canned foods. Any suggestions on a good canned food? Right now they are each getting 1/2 a small (about 3 oz) can to supplement. My last cat, Smokey, wouldn't touch wet food & when she was diagnosed with renal failure I wish she would have. I think it really helps their little bodies get a little extra of that moisture they need so much.

I have to feed my boys Iams, Sammycat will not eat anything else.If I use a different brand he will turn his nose up at it and try to cover it like it was something in the litter box. Oscar however,is like a little garbage disposal he will eat anything

There are several out there you could try: Solid Gold, Felidae, California Natural, Innova, Nutro, to name a few. I had the same trouble with JC, and have finally found a few brands available in small cans that he will eat (he insists on small cans). The thing is, two of the brands he really likes aren't sold in North America, but I've found he'll eat Solid Gold and Innova canned food, too.

Nutro Natural Choice... LOVE it!!

We find it difficult to please our 5 cats, but using Iams weight control all seem to agree upon. They were eating Science Diet kitten formula but we had to stop due to an allergic reaction.
