Hello :3

Hi! I just found this site (Googling why my kitten keeps licking me. Lol.)
I figure I need something like this site since I'm no cat expert or anything. I grew up with dogs, so cat behavior, nutrition, etc,are new to me.
I have two young kitties, Luka and Gunter.
I also have 4 kids, 1 dog (an Aussie), a gerbil, and my hubby.
We are a military family, so I will likely be asking about moving with cats at some point

Hello, welcome to the site. Your boys are very handsome and I love Luka's possession of the food cupboard.    Good luck with the kitten and gerbil combination - that should be lots of fun! I had gerbils when I was younger - when I wasn't allowed a cat....Look forward to reading your posts.

Actually, Luka is a girl. lol.
I have to keep the cabinets locked so she doesn't get in.

Our gerbil is an elderly lady now. She doesn't do much, but the cats love watching her. Luckily, there is no way for them to get into her tank, otherwise they might love her too much. Heh.

Nice cats! I have two blackies myself. Since I got my 1st cat earlier this year, I had only had a hamster and a Bunny when I was Young. God luck with your family, dog and cats (that's a lot).

Thank you! I wish we could afford to feed more. I'd totally be a crazy cat lady with mostly black cats. I have heard they are the hardest to get adopted out and are not treated nicely. It's sad since they (in my limited experience) are such nice and laid back kitties.

ETA: We don't have the dog anymore. He was too much fun and wanted to run all over the neighborhood saying hello to all the houses and trees and anything else he could meet. I had to find him a new home where he could run around and not be in danger of getting hit by a car. Luckily, I did find a great home for him. The new mama for him been waiting to have an Aussie for the last 10 years, but said she wanted the timing to be exactly right. I guess it was just right and my Bear went to an amazing new home in the country.
so, it's just the two kitties and the old lady gerbil now.

Thank you! I do love black cats a lot. I have my younger one simply because he was black and someone was just giving him away. Poor guy. They get a bad rap and I didn't want him to be lonely or afraid or given to someone that would be mean to him.

Funny enough, I grew up with a deep superstition about all sorts of things (thanks mom!) and black cats was one of them. I would even turn around and walk a completely different path if a black cat crossed my path in front of me. 
Thankfully, I outgrew superstition altogether. Now I love black cats especially.
