Hi all,

I am new to this site but I am here in hopes of finding some help for my mother. She's currently living in the US (Las Vegas) but needs to move overseas to be with family quite urgently.

She has been rescuing feral cats for the past few years and currently has 10 ferals living inside her home. They haven't been outside for 5 years and I don't think she wants to release them. I'm not even sure it would be fair to expect them to survive on their own at this stage.

She won't be able to bring them through customs overseas for a variety of reasons and thus we are on the hunt for some type of feral colony/sanctuary that will offer her cats a place to live out their days in relative safety. So far we have not had much like in finding any sanctuaries that accept feral cats...most programs release them.

Does anyone have any ideas or know of any leads I might follow up to help find these cats a safe place to go? Distance isn't a problem as she would be willing to travel if a place came up for the cats in another state.

Many thanks in advance.

Thank you for not considering releasing them.  At this point, that would actually be irresponsible and cruel.  They are used to being a) inside and b) fed regularly, so they would have no idea how to live outside.

Is there a way someone could live in her house while she's gone?  Perhaps someone who's willing to take care of the cats for a discount on the rent?

The only organization I can think of is Best Friends in Utah.  They have a feral colony and do take newcomers.  Not sure of the fee but there will be one no matter where you take them.  Someone else may know of a place that's closer but google "feral cat sanctuary" and you'll find some more, I'm sure.

Again, thank you for helping them!

PLease keep us posted. Definitely call Best Friends in Utah - they may not be able to take them, but may have some options for sanctuaries.

Sorry to hear about your mother having to suddenly move and find homes for all of her rescues. She is a special person to have helped these poor lost kitties. I do hope that you can find a suitable and safe situation for them. Good to know you won't release or abandon them because they would not survive without a caretaker at this point. See about contacting all rescues in your state. Explain the situation and I am hopeful that one of these organizations will assist. :cross: Thank you for helping your mother's cats. I am sure your mother will be grateful too. :vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes:
