After getting the chance to sit out in the sun this year because of some rather nice weather....

Do you sit out and catch some rays when the sun is shining?

Not on purpose, no. :lol3: Any sun I get is while I am walking or gardening.

Skin cancer runs in the family, so definitely not on purpose. I was recently reminded that the sun here doesn't work, though :tongue2:, because I went to Florida on vacation and got badly burned even though I was only out for about half an hour. . .I can be out for several hours without burning here. No wonder all us northerners are vitamin D deficient! :lol3:

Skin cancer also runs in my family on both sides so I don't go out without sun screen if I can help it. Plus it makes my chronic hives so bad, the sun equals red itchy hives all over me for a week or so on top of the hives I get every day. . .Not worth it lol

I like being pale anyway, it makes me feel more delicate lol :)

Skin cancer runs in my family, and while I'm not a sun worshipper I do go to the beach or a friend's pool occasionally. But I don't like to go much before 4 pm. That helps me avoid burns.

Not really.  If it's just comfortably warm early in the season I might sit in the sun.  Otherwise I sit in the shade under the trees in my backyard where I can get the breeze too!

My eyes are really sensitive, so I almost always seek out the shade.  I tend not to burn or tan -- I just get more freckles.  If I stay out really long, I'll burn, but usually not badly, and the burn usually turns into a slight tan (but not even enough to really tell).

I don't exactly sit out to get sun, but I'm outside a lot.  I spend as much time as I can working in the garden, playing outside with my kids or swimming in the local pool.  Skin cancer also runs in my family so when I am outside, I wear SPF 100 cream with SPF 110 spray over it.  The amazing part...I still get SO TAN!  It's unreal.  My friends tease and say they wish they could tan as easily as I do...I remind them that it comes with a price.  I was 26 when I had my first melanoma cut off.  I've learned to love and respect a fair complexion!  But, I love being outside!

I do!

I seem to draw some kind of energy/nourishment from the sun and really notice if I haven't had any in a while....

when I was in the ICU two years ago, I kept trying to bribe the nurses to let me go down the hall to look at the sun and trees, but unfortunately, I was isolated to all people.  I had 'c. diff and salmonella at the same time, along with an 11mm kidney stone lodged halfway between the kidney and bladder.  I wanted to see the trees mostly.

I'd be outside all day if I could get away with it. I love the sun and the heat of summer. (This humidity is terrible, though) I love being outside, being in the pool, and not having to be inside the house. Doesn't matter if I'm working or relaxing, I'll go outside.

Part of the reason I'm fighting central AC so much is because I don't want to be cooped up in a house with all the windows shut and the drapes drawn. You might as well throw me into a cave at that point.....I can't handle it. I can't even stand to be inside other people's homes when they're like that. (I did tell dear Richard that if he wanted AC so much, he could put it in, but I probably won't even use it when he's gone. So far, thankfully, he hasn't gone ahead with it, but I have a feeling that it's coming. I don't use it in my car either, unless other people are with me. I open the moon roof, open the windows, and go.)

Ive stayed in Scotland many a time with temps just lower than that over in the south west coast, and were certainly not used to it here in Newcastle lol!

Oh boy, you were 'lucky'! Don't go giving any tourists high expectations!  Maybe it's an east coast thing that we usually get cooler and drier weather? All I can say is that Mouse is molting BIG TIME in this heat wave
He's usually good at keeping his fur to himself. Is it normal for this to happen if it's hot?

No, I'm not in the habit of sitting in the sun, even though there's not much here. Growing up in Texas you're usually trying to find shade if you're out.

People's moods here sure get better when it's sunny out! When I was out for a walk during our first sunny days, after we moved to Victoria, I was confused why strangers were suddenly smiling at me.

So he shouldn't go bald then - just get even thicker fluff stuff! Nice.
I meant growing the thicker undercoat when the temperature goes down. My ladies get softer during the winter, due to the undercoat - which is softer than the guardhairs - getting thicker. Then when it starts to warm up, they start shedding more.
