Our Rusty has diarrhea and is getting real thin. Had him to the vet a year or so ago.

Said he had some kind of bug  from testing stool sample. Tried to give him some meds and he was better for a while. We didn't get enough meds in him to help, he seems to go from ok to bad diarrhea at times.

He is impossible to give meds to. He somehow knows when I am about to give him meds before I even get the meds and he is gone and hides in places so we can't get to him.

I know he needs to go to the vet but if we can't get meds into him like he needs what are we to do?

We might sneak on him the first time with a new med the first time but after that its not going to happen. He is high strung as it is and trying to corner him to give him meds just freaks him out. And if I do catch him I get all tore up from his claws.  We can't get him wrapped in a towel either, been there, done that.

I feel so bad for him. what to do???

You really need to take your boy to the vet...... And if there are meds involved, you really need to give them to him.
It is REALLY important that you are able to medicate him, no matter what. Your kitty can't get sick and go without getting treated..... LDG gives a really good description on how to pill cats in here Post #52

Also, what are you feeding him? Have you tried a different diet? is he eating well?

A cat that has been losing weight (and showing) has to be taken to the vet - this can be dangerous. :vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes:

How long has he had diarrhea for? If he has had it for a long time you will need to take him to the vet to get fluids injected in to him.

What are you feeding him? If this is a chronic problem it may be ibd/ibs. Here is a website with more information (http://www.ibdkitties.net). Putting probiotics in his food will help. I am ordering this product to help treat my ibs kitty I have not tried it yet but I am hoping it will work (http://www.naturalcatcareblog.com/2...wing-up-healed-in-one-month-not-just-by-food/).

But you really have to take him to a vet if he has had this a long time and is losing weight-again he will need fluids. As for giving him meds have you tried heavy duty gloves. Also cat bags seem to work better than towels.

And as far as givng med, IF they are really needed, you can always try to hide them in pill pockets, soft treats, mixed into some stinky foods, OR you can get them made up in fish flavors or even in transfermal gels to rub on their ears or paws.  So there are options out there

Hi, going to try and get him in tomorrow. I know he needs help.

I need body armor to hold him so wife can try and get meds into him.

Last time he scratched my chest and belly up pretty bad right through my shirt. Just getting him in a carrier to get him to the vet is a real adventure.
