Our indoor only cat has a sore which seems to spreading.  We can't tell if she's scratching it to cause it to spread or if it is some kind of skin condition.  We've been treating it with antibiotic ointment but we're not sure this is working or even making it worse.  We've just had our transmission blow so were tight on money and trying to avoid a vet bill if we can help it.  I hope someone here can give us some good advice.  Thanks.

PS- I've got pictures but when I try and attach them I am told that I don't have permission.

It's possible it's ringworm.  since you can't post pictures, here is a thread that shows a couple of pictures of ita; http://www.thecatsite.com/t/240279/how-does-this-look-ringworm

Also discusses ways to try to detect it.  There are lots of threads about it, if you think that might be what it is after reading the above thread.  Just do a search from the top of the page on things that might help it

It would be really helpful to see the pictures. Can you please try again to attach them? You should be able to now
.
There a few over the counter type treatments you can try such as Vetericyn or colloidal silver. You do need to know what you're dealing with though, and if it's infected she will mostly likely need antibiotics from the vet.

Gosh, now I'm not sure
The one on between her eye and ear looks kind of  like ringworm, however, it looks like there might be a few other little spots starting up there too, which is making me think maybe Atopical Dermatitis.   Here is another thread that discusses ringworm, just in case, and has more pictures.  Notice that the sores are in circles,, thus the name "ring" worm.  http://www.thecatsite.com/t/256020/cat-skin-sores-warning-graphic-images#post_3360356

Have you read the other thread.  Did anything seem similar?  After reading this new thread, see what you think?  You could always try treating with the things listed in the thread I just listed, which might work if it is NOT ringworm, but probably will not work if it IS.

Is it possible she has fleas.  Some cats are highly allergic to fleas, and just one flea bite can cause something like this.

Here are some articles regarding skin allergies and skin problems.  Maybe some of them will be helpful

Thank you for your reply.  I did read some material on ringworm and looked at the pictures that you linked to.  I also started treating her with some Lotrimin cream.  It's too early to tell if the treatment is working.

I'll look into the Atopical Dermatitis too. I ordered some Vetericyn also which should arrive today.  I think that will be better since this is near her eye and I don't think the Lotrimin is intended to be used there.  I'll keep posting on her progress.
