Fighting for ferals in NW NJ!
OH! I totally "hear" you on that one. I have the same issue any time I get ground mouse. It has the fur and everything. It is a VERY strange texture - and perhaps just knowing what it is....

So far Athena will eat any meat I give her... eggs are a different matter, that's still a work in progress, but progress is being made.

I'm still fairly new to raw feeding, and still working out what she doesn't like, but my list so far is:

Beef: Dislikes, but will eat.

Beef Heart: Loves

Beef Kidney: Likes

Chicken: Unsure, at first she didn't seem to like it, but seems to be eating it fine now.

Chicken Neck: Likes

Chicken Heart: Loves

Chicken Liver: Likes

Duck: Likes

Duck Gizzard: Likes

Kangaroo: Only fed a couple of times so far, first time didn't seem to like it. This morning ate it straight away with no hesitation.

Lamb: Loves, seems to be her favorite.

Lamb Liver: Likes

Lamb Kidney: Unsure (new)

Lamb Heart: Loves

Lamb Brain: Something I've only just gotten, and only fed her once so far. She ate half of it (so about quarter of an ounce) then left, but went back and ate the rest 5 minutes later. It's on the menu again tomorrow night.

Mouse: Unsure, only fed once so far, and that took a bit of coaxing (except the tail, that went straight away). Surprisingly she didn't play with it at all.

Pork: So-so

Quail: Likes

Rabbit: Likes

Sardine: Loves

Turkey: Likes

Well, I can bump the sample size.
I feed 8 cats raw food.
Rodents:

Mus musculus (Domestic/White lab mouse)- They all loved them. That was good because it made up a lot of there diet. One meal a day.
Acomys cahirinus (Egyptian Spiny Mouse)- All the cats loved it. The only draw back was they bred too slowly.

Rattus norvegicus (Domestic/lab rat)-They all loved it. The greatest part about breeding this species was, I could breed the prey items in three sizes: small, medium, and large.

Myocastor coypus (Nutria/Coypu)- They all loved them, when I could get them. Only the pure Leptailurus serval and F3 Savannah could dispatch them safely and quickly when fed alive. For the F1 Bengal and domesticss, I would dispatch they prey item for them and then feed it to them.

Cavia porcellus ( Guinea pig)- All the cats loved them. However, one of my children, loved them so much, that they kept the breeding stock as pets. So, I had to buy them and feed them F/T to all the cats.

Sylvilagus floridanus (Eastern Cottontail rabbit) and Netherlands Dwarf Rabbit (Oryctolagus cuniculus) hybrid are what I use to feed my cats.

Fowl:

Gallus gallus domesticus (Domestic Chicken)-They all loved them. I would feed from 7 day old chicks to adult chickens depending on the breed/species in question. Obviously, the larger the cat, the larger the chicken/prey item.

Anas platyrhynchos domesticus (Domestic Duck)-By far the favorite prey item of the cats. I love duck too, I just prefer mine cooked
.

Anas platyrhynchos (Mallard Duck)- Only the African Serval, F1 Bengal and F3 Savannah liked them. The domestics did not. Please note, I only fed them when they where legal to hunt. I did find them tasty, again preferibly cooked
.

Anas platyrhynchos (Mascovy Duck)- No cat liked them. I am not sure why. But, I stopped breeding them. Again, I found them tasty when cooked. But, I was not going to breed them just for me
.

Chrysolophus amherstiae (Lady Amherst's Pheasant)-All the cats LOVED them. Very easy to breed. Just like the chickens, I would feed from 7 day old chicks to adult sized birds, depending on the breed/species.

Phasianus colchicus (Common/Ring-Necked)-All the cats LOVED them and me too
. We just preferred them "served" in different ways
.

Colinus virginianus (Northern Bobwhite Quail)- A real big hit overall. However, I had issues getting them to breed consistently at certain points, so, it was not "always on the menue".

Reptiles and Amphibians:

Rana sphenocephala (Leopard/Medow Frog)-The pure domestics NEVER cared for them. But, the hybrids and pure exotic loved them. I used them as a "snack".

Lithobates catesbeianus   (American Bullfrog)-The pure domestics and African Serval LOVE/LOVED them. But, the F3 Savannah and F1 Bengal did not. Go figure, since, the F3 Savannah was a large cat and would have gotten more meat from them and the domestics, theoretically, should have had an easier time dispatching the Lithobates catesbeianus
.

Eublepharis macularius (Leopard Gecko)-Everyone liked them as a "snack". They where very easy to breed!

Please note: All the animals where bred by me, unless otherwise specified.

P.s.-Were we supposed to include proteins that were fed on a erratic basis and what about eggs? I have a whole list of different eggs, I fed over the years. I was just not sure, if I should have added it.

One kitty, over the age of 16.  Basically red meats are out completely, tried venison, beef, pork, goat, no go, she won't touch it and if she does she pukes.  She likes poultry, turkey best. then cornish game hens, chicken, grouse and duck.  She won't eat duck or turkey wings at all though and doesn't really like chicken gizzards, turkey or grouse ones are fine though.  She likes hearts a lot, livers not so much, chicken is most well eaten.  Will not eat lung.  Loves mice any size but won't touch any other furred prey, tried gerbil, rat, guinea pig.  She loves rabbit with a passion.  Will eat can sardines but not fresh frozen ones, or herring, or smelt.  Doesn't seem to like quail at all.  Not interested in day old chicks.  I've recently got her to accept a couple commercial raw products, vital essentials chicken nibblets and stella and chewys turkey, but she will only eat them dry so far.

P.s.-Were we supposed to include proteins that were fed on a erratic basis and what about eggs? I have a whole list of different eggs, I fed over the years. I was just not sure, if I should have added it.
I would like the data for common chicken egg yolks/whites/whole, (however you feed them), if you have it. No one else seems to have fed eggs other than that, so just chicken eggs will be fine.

I'm just looking for data on raw proteins that you have fed long enough to feel comfortable saying your cat(s) loved, liked, were indifferent to, or hated it.

I will be including freeze dried info as well, so if anyone has more they would like to include please do so. I will not be including commercial raw products though.

My list is coming along nicely, although I would love to have more data than just 32 cats! If you haven't posted yet please do! :)

I am owned by one cat.  I initially started out with commercial raw; Ritz seemed to like fish-based CR (Bravo) and RadCat. Then I switched to frankenprey/whole prey model. She's been on raw for 1.5 years.

Ritz likes everything, really, she does (sometimes, I think, "unfortunately.....").  Initially, she wasn't crazy about the texture of chicken thighs, but it doesn't seem to bother her.  And initially she wouldn't chew chicken gizzards (no problem with bone).  But recently I've found/fed her turkey giblets, and she loves them.  I don't feed ground unless that's the only way I can buy it or get it for free, like Buffalo, Venison or Llama.   Ritz tends to prefer strongly flavored meats.

I buy by price, so don't go by whether the meat is shoulder/flank/etc.

With that said:

Liver:  likes it, fresh or freeze-dried

Kidney:  loves it

Chicken breast, thigh:  likes

Chicken wings:  on the one occasion I fed her one, she ignored it.  Likes all other kinds of bone, though.

Chicken/beef/pork heart:  likes, especially beef

Cornish hen:  likes it okay, I think she thinks it tastes like chicken--which it is.

Quail:  loves it (I get it frozen at the international supermarket)

Turkey:  likes it a lot, but can only find bone in turkey thigh and bone in wings.  I wish I could find cuts of meat in the grocery store, may have to order from HT.  Has a lot of natural acidifier in it (Ritz is prone to UTIs).

Bravo freeze dried turkey hearts: loves loves loves

Pork:  likes

Goat:  really likes

Venison/duck/goose:  really likes (my nephew is a hunter, I get/fed these intermittently)

Beef:  likes

Beef tripe:  likes it a lot

Llama (from Hare Today);  likes, but not enough for me to reorder

Lamb:  likes it okay, but not a favorite

Rabbit:  one of her favorites, loves it.

Buffalo:  likes

Eggs:  hates

Sardines:  didn't touch, ironically, because one of the reasons I transitioned her to raw was she was a Fancy Feast Classic Seafood addict.

I would like to find a source of unusual, fresh non-secreting organs, like Thymus or brain, ideally a mix EXCLUDING liver.

The results are in!!

I did not include commercial products and did include freeze-dried products. The categories
are: love, like, indifferent and dislike. Answers such as "meh, sometimes" were put in to the
indifferent category. For the purpose of showing clear percentages those categories were then
made in to "like" (consisting of the love and like answers), and "dislike" (consisting of the
indifferent and dislike answers). I will be showing you the results from all the different
proteins and then show some interesting info I gathered from the data at the end.

This is great!

And it explains a few things...

Now I don't feel so bad that my cats hate pork, melt, and eggs (yolk, white, or whole).

They scarf their chicken, while beef and lamb are close seconds.

I've wanted to get rabbit for a while, but couldn't justify the cost (+ shipping).  I may have to re-examine that again.

Thank you so much for compiling the list. I'm gonna bookmark it, I'm sure it's going to be pretty useful.

Harley is okay with:

- egg

Harley Hates and will not eat:

It's really odd that they don't like similar foods. I wonder if it's a "local" thing.

My cats love chicken, breast & thighs. They like ground or chunked

2 thumbs up for ground turkey ( with organ and bone)

HT ground Rabbit was a big hit

HT Rabbit, fur & all is their undisputed favorite.

Ground Quail fur and all took a bit of getting used to but in the end was acceptable.

Ground Pheasant they did not like

Ground lamb caused vomiting.

Pork is a favorite

I mix duck with rabbit organs and they love it.

Thumbs down for ground Venison

Thumbs up for venison chunks

Both chicken and turkey gizzards from HT are hits

Most meats I serve ground with added chunks. 98% of the time the meats are from Hare-Today
