Because of advice I received, online and in person, here and elsewhere, I decided not to get my kitties re-vaccinated after their initial rabies/distemper and all that. I'm still totally okay with this decision. But I was maybe a little naive, because I didn't think how this would affect me later down the road. If one of my cats gets sick (or whatever) and I have to take them back to the vet, will they force me to get them vaccinated again? I never talked to my vet about not wanting to continue with vaccinations, I just kind of never went back when I got the little reminder in the mail. Further complicating things, some of my cats were vaccinated at one vet and some at another. (I was a first time pet owner and it took me awhile to find a vet I was comfortable with.) I have no idea what stance any of these vets have on vaccinations. Help! I'm kind of freaking out now that I realized that I might suddenly be "forced" to re-vaccinate if one of my cats has to go in for some other minor issue.

No, you shouldn't have to. The only time we require animals to be up to date on vaccines is if they are coming in for surgery (I think it's a stupid policy...). And I don't know how common that policy is - it could entirely just be something stupid that my clinic does, and no one else lol. But if they come in sick or with some other issue? We don't care and actually you shouldn't vaccinate an ill animal, anyway.

My cat is 11 and I'm pretty sure he hasn't been vaccinated since he was a kitten. He's been to multiple vets for multiple things, and I've never been asked about vaccines

I certainly can't vouch for all vet offices, but my cat recently had major surgery and no one asked/said anything about vaccinations. He hasn't been vaccinated for at least 12 years. With a different doctor, another cat had to get a PEG feeding tube a year ago, and again no issue regarding vaccine boosters. If those two big procedures didn't require current vaccinations, I can't think of what would.

I think the main problem would be if you needed to board your cat at a kennel. I'm not sure how many people do that with a cat, but I would think a kennel would have strict vaccination rules.
