Hi Everyone,

I never raised a kitten before. I did have a cat who recently passed away which I had for almost 8 years, but she was already an adult when she came into my life. Though I'm still mourning her loss, I feel I'm ready to bring in a furrbaby into my life.
I know of someone who found some kittens and they are currently hand feeding them. I think they are about 2 weeks old. I may or may not take the one I'm interested until it's eating on it's own...still need to work out the details with the lady who is caring for them.
Are there any sites out there that explain everything about taking care of a kitten? My fiance has had kittens before, as young as a few weeks old that they needed hand feeding, so I don't feel so lost. However, I'd like to get information on how to properly care for them before actually getting one.
Questions I have are: Should I let the kitten roam around my room when I'm not home, or keep them in a cage with bedding, toys, food and water?
How old should they start getting their shots and how old do they have to be to get neutered?
What age should I start introducing adult cat food to them? or hard food?

Any good sites for beginners like me, or any suggestions you guys can send my way?

Thanks! :)

You can begin with reading threads in our site... and articles too.

Shall you take it when it can eat himself, or shall you continue to handrear?  shall you perhaps even adopt some??

Google on handraising, handrearing.  Fabsayc is an excellent site.

www.kitten-rescue.com is another...

Others will surely fill in, otherwise I will write more tomorrow.

Good luck!

Thanks!
I'm planning on meeting with the girl and the kitten in a few days so I guess I'll have more information about when I can take him then.
