It seems like we've been having some misunderstandings here lately, regarding discussion of spaying/neutering in pregnancy threads. I'd like to clarify a few things, please.

First, I hope everyone has read the forum guidelines. If you haven't, you may want to do that now before continuing reading.

I'd like to elaborate on this part -

Because of our strong commitment to responsible cat care and treatment, we are a pro-spay/neuter community.

This is the official stance of this website. We strongly feel that no responsible cat owner should accidentally let their cat get pregnant. Ever.

Spaying a female cat before her first cycle is the most basic cat care measure. You have a 2-3 months time window for doing that, and if you can't deal with that because of your life circumstances, than consider surrendering the cat to a shelter. Caring for a cat + 4-6 kittens is a whole lot more demanding, not to mention costly.

Why is it so difficult for most of us not to pass judgement over your cat getting pregnant?

We may refrain from saying that to your face in your thread, but when you bring kittens into this world, you are sentencing kittens to death. It may be your cat's kittens down the road, or, if you manage to find them good homes, it will be other kittens killed in a shelter because they couldn't get a home. There's only so many good homes to go around, and way too many kittens in need of them. It's the cruel cruel maths of pet overpopulation. So, you see, we find it very very hard to be happy for you when your cat is having kittens, cute as they may be. What we see is not five cute kittens, but five cute dead kittens put to sleep at your local shelter.

Back to forum practices and policies -

With all of the above in mind, please take a minute to re-read the forum guidelines. I hope my post here provides you, owners of pregnant cats, with some insight as to how difficult it can be for us not to preach and scold. Please, if we do bring up spaying, be understanding. We're only trying to make sure no more litters will be coming into the world after this pregnancy. If someone is crossing the admittedly vague line of preaching and scolding, just report their post and do not respond with your own lecture. Criticizing other members in public for bringing up spaying/neutering will not be tolerated. Think they went overboard? Let us know by reporting the post, not by reprimanding them in public.

And please, go easy on us with the "Awwww, look at my cute kittens" posts. We all love kittens. It is because we love kittens, that we cringe at seeing yet another litter brought into the world. If what you're looking for is "awww's and oooo's" over your kittens, you may just be in the wrong internet forum for that.

I am closing this thread for replies. If you're not happy with these policies, or any other, the way to express your criticism and provide feedback is via Conversations (a direct message to myself). Please read our rules again, and take note of Rule #8.
