Hi, My cat just gave birth to 6 kittens last night the last one around 11:45 and both she and the kittens have been doing pretty good most the day. The mama has been up and eating and drinking but just lately she seems like shes is panting and breathing harder than normal almost as if she is in labor again. She is still taking care of the kittens but I am really worried for her. Is it possible that she is about to have another one? Thanks!

It could happen. Did you notice if she delivered a placenta after each kitten?

Yes, she ate all 6 of them because she wouldn't let me take any away!

A pause in between deliveries is entirely normal, so it is fully possible to have one more.

But observe closely, and be ready to phone the vet - and ready to rush in too...

Good luck!

Thanks! I have noticed that it comes and goes in spurts. Sometimes after cleaning the kittens it almost seems as if she exhausts herself doing just that task. But then she will calm down and go back to breathing normal so I am not sure if she is just so tired from everything that she has been through but I do plan to keep a close eye on her and we have a good 24-hour vet nearby.

Ok if it doesn't improve in the next couple days take her of if you think it is getting seriouse take her sooner. My girl she only had one so its like she has it easy. So I would say she most likely isn't used to that and she needs to get used to it or she needs to get checked. You can call it but def keep an eye on her. I still keep an eye on my girl even though her baby iss 9 days old
