New stray momma Cat - Pregnant

Well,

Yesterday we took in another.

She's pregnant and I have a question.

If she had had her kittens, wouldn't her belly be soft and jello like?  Right now it's VERY firm like she's ready to pop at any minute.  She's also doing a good bit of rapid breathing / panting.   But otherwise is very affectionate and alert.

Just wanting to get 2nd opinions to make sure we didn't separate her from any kittens already delivered.

If she is so big and hard, she should still have them inside.   I presume theoretically she may have popped out one, but then she wouldnt wander around, she would be there by her nest.

The hard breathing? Nervous by the new situation or some precontractions??
