Hi All

I have 2 lovely cats and they were born in front of me. They have lived with me ever since and are most adorable. Both are males and neutered. They are 2.5 years old.

All of a sudden off the last week Chevy has started peeing on the bed every morning. He would never do such a thing in the past . He likes his litter clean and I keep it like that for him.

He is most adorable and never pees on the bed all the day - it's just in the morning.

I have no clue of what he is trying to tell me..

Any ideas?

Welcome to TCS and sorry Chevy is peeing on you.

Change in litter box habits is Chevy's way of telling you he doesn't like something.

First, anything and everything medical must be ruled out, like a UTI, so he needs to go to the vets.

Second, has anything changed in  his life in the past month or so; his life is your life, so:  repairmen coming in, change of food, new roommate, no roommate, new smells, new cat on the block that he sees during the night?  (I can tell something peaks Ritz' interest when at midnight she goes tearing off of my bed and jumps on the window sill and wants to become One with the window.)

Meanwhile you can try calming agents such as Feliway plug ins and Rescue Remedy.

And here is a thread about inappropriate elimination and some articles .

The two male cats I have had with urinary issues were almost the same age as your kitty.  They ended up having crystals in their urine.

It is treatable and will get special food to discourage the formation of the crystals. Crystals will block a male cat from urinating and that is very dangerous.

Please get your cat checked out and at least rule this out.  Does your cat eat wet or dry food?

Thanks Ritz and Farleyv for your comments.

I agree with you and I planning to take chevy to the vet this week. I too want to rule out physical reasons

On the other front, there is absolutely no change that has happened in the last weeks in his life or mine.

He uses the litter all day and its only mornings that seem a concern. He has this habit of waking me up by sniffing into my face, rubbing his face on mine. My other cat (mots) doesn't do that - rather just waits till I wake to come to me for his morning petting. Chevy on the other hand will start to wake me up will all his gestures ... If I don't give in to him, he would usually sleep beside me for an hour before trying again. It's always been like this, except for this sudden change in behavior.

My 2 year old male cat jumped up on my bed this past Friday morning around 3am and peed on comforter. He then proceeded to pee in my shoe box around 7am, after I removed the shoes thankfully. I knew this wasn't like him so took him to the vet that afternoon and he had a urinary blockage and stayed at the vet till Monday late afternoon. They told me he could have died real quickly from this condition. Question for anyone out there, does this have a tendency to reoccur? Also the vet bill came to around $1,000, does that sound appropriate?

Were there crystals in his urine causing the blockage?  What kind of crystals?  Yes, it can come back.  Cats that have this condition are put on a special diet from the vet.

My cat Beeba has been on the special science diet c/d food for 3 years now.

I am surprised your vet did not put him on special food.  I would call the vet and ask.

Hi,
my cat Henry just urinated on me.

Henry is an 7 year old desexed male who has always been on the aggressive side. He's previously had a uti and is now predominantly on wet food as he only drinks from running water.
We recently moved to a new house and Henry stated getting into fights with other cats and urinating around the house. I took him to the vets thinking it may be his uti returning but the vet gave him the all clear and said it was behavioral and gave us a plug diffuser.
The diffuser didn't work so I purchased a new litter box (he was previously doing his business outside).
That hasn't helped and this morning he walked up to my leg and urinated; not just a trickle but a full on wee.

I need help! If I can't help Henry I'll need to give him away :(

your cat may be insecure about the new cats jader. a lot of peeing out of the box means that it is insecure. you might look up ways to deter the other cats from your yard. I heard you can sprinkle used litter around your yard.
