View media item 150797Review cat treats and you could win $25!

Click to Add Your Review at the Cat Treats section

Our recently-renovated Reviews Section is waiting for your input!

With so many commercial cat treats available, we want to have a reliable source of information here on TCS based on the collective experience of our members. This is your chance to contribute to our database and help fellow members, present and future.

There are currently 34 different kinds of cat treats listed in the Cat Treats Reviews section and many of them need to be reviewed. If you don't see your favorite brand of cat treats listed, you can either add it yourself or contact me (Anne) with a request to add that product.

The Rules:

  1. Write a review for a commercial kind at treats that you use or have tried in the past.
  2. Review must be posted in the Cat Treats Reviews Section. Click here for an illustrated walk-through.
  3. Only review cat treats that you have actually tried. Yes, I realize (hope!) that your cat was the one to actually taste the product
, but you were there to see the reaction!
  4. You have one week to add as many reviews as you like (please see guidelines for reviews below) - contest ends at midnight, March 22nd.
  5. All valid reviews (that meet the guidelines detailed below) will enter a draw and one lucky winner will receive a $25 Amazon voucher.
  6. Existing reviews in the Cat Treats section also count towards the draw.
  7. Contest is void where prohibited.

Review Guidelines:

  1. Only review products you have actually tried.
  2. Create a well-worded title that reflects your overall experience.
  3. Write a detailed and specific review. Use the Pros and Cons fields to give a condensed version of your review.
  4. Write 80-100 words (about 5-6 lines of text) describing your experience with the product. This is a guideline, more than a rule, and as long as your review is informative the length doesn't matter.
  5. Be specific and share not only whether or not you liked the product, but why.
  6. Give your honest opinion on the product - positive or negative, either is welcome.
If you don't see your favorite brand of cat treats listed, you can either add it yourself or contact me (Anne) with a request to add that product.

We look forward to your reviews!!

Update: tweaking the rules a little regarding the length of reviews. 80-100 words is the current requirement.
Existing reviews in the Cat Reviews section do not have to comply with this rule and will be entered in the draw regardless of their length.

Going over the reviews, I see we have some quality reviews that aren't as long. In other words, just write us a helpful review, and don't worry too much about its length.

"The Goodlife Recipe" is GOOD!

This treat is one of the latest ones I've bought, and our first time to try it.  Normally, I buy Friskies Party Mix or Crispies, but thought these looked like they would be healthier.  My cat seems to love any kind of treat I give him, but he's somewhat overweight and I worry about his health.

My cat, Jesse, just goes crazy for these "Goodlife Recipe" treats.  He gobbles up treats pretty fast as it is, but he really goes nuts over these!   I got him the "real salmon & garden greens flavor" of "Indoor wholesome delights".  He snarfs them up the second I put
them down, I do only give him about five at a time though.   I still buy him the Friskies treats too, but this brand has really impressed me.  They seem to be a bit healthier for him, with the garden greens in them and all.  I've been trying to grow him some "cat grass" again, like I did a few years ago, when we lived in CA.  We now live in Las Vegas, and I just tried planting some more, like I did last year, but they just don't seem to want to grow here.

Anyway, that's my review on cat treats; basically, my cats likes all the ones I've bought for him, but his preference seems to be "The Goodlife Recipe".

Welcome to TCS Phaedera!

3. Once you find the item you wish to review, you can click on "Write the first review" or click on the item's name to get to the product page.

In the case of "The Goodlife", I sorted the listings alphabetically and found it at the bottom of the third page -

4. If you reached the product page, you simply need to click "Write a Review" or "Review it":

and then, voila! The review form -

Please do try to use as many of the fields as you can and provide lots of details. At the very least, add the overall summary, pros and cons, as well as the review itself.

And remember - if you can't find the cat treats you're looking for, drop me a PM and I'll add them asap!

While we're all looking at the Reviews section, I wanted to add a few words about the three ways in which you can sort the products in each section. You have three options available to you at the top of the reviews page:

You can choose one of the following, I'll cover them in reverse order, if you don't  mind.

1. Alphabetical -  sorts the listings alphabetically by the first letter of the product's title.

2. Highest Rated - sorts the listings by the average ratings (stars) they have. Obviously, non-rated or non-reviews products will show up only after reviewed products, even if the reviewers gave it a low rating.

3. Most Popular - this one is actually quite interesting, as it takes a much wider look at our interaction with the product. Instead of just using star ratings or product age, we're also factoring in how many times a product has been tagged in conversations on the site, and how recently those conversations have had new replies. The result is a much better "page 1" of products that represent what's buzzing in the community right now.

The default setting is "Most Popular" and it's far from being perfect, yet I think it does a pretty decent job focusing on brands that are indeed mentioned more often on the board.

Thanks, Anne, for this wonderful opportunity!  We've reviewed several types of treats already, and I was wondering if we could also review Cat Claws' 100% Tuna Flakes (obtainable through www.catclaws.com), one of our favorite treats, and maybe also their TUNA DASH 100% TUNA CAT FOOD SEASONING.

Looking forward to seeing the reviews. Love how many new reviews have been added lately - wonderful! Just keep in mind you can certainly add a review to a product that already has one or two reviews. The more reviews, the better and more balanced the overall picture is.

TYSVM, Anne.  Reviews posted.  Hope Statesiders will visit Cat Claws' site for these and other cat pleasing choices in treats, toys, grooming aids, litterbox and associated items, etc.  They are a wonderful company we've shopped with since before the advent of personal computers, though mail order; and they not only offer a huge and growing array of great cat products, they also do rescue and adoption of local cats! which makes them a top choice for us.

Contest is now officially closed and we have a winner!

We have 25 reviews in the section, most of them added during the contest, but as mentioned in the guidelines, any review in this category was eligible to participate in the draw (even those which had been added earlier).

I assigned numbers to the reviews and then ran a random draw, and our winner is...

LDG !!!

Congratulations Laurie!

The winning review was this one -

http://www.thecatsite.com/products/etta-says-freeze-dried-treats/reviews/3936

Gotta love seeing Chumley's approving face there ;)

Thank you so much everyone for your contributions! I love what we've done to the cat treats category and I hope this will indeed help other cat owners in the future. We will be running more of these contests in the future, covering various categories. Existing reviews will always count towards the prize, so please do keep visiting our products section and adding reviews!

Fighting for ferals in NW NJ!
Thanks Anne and TCS!

The gift certificate is going to be put to very good use - treats I have yet to review (and plan to! :lol3: ). The Vetri-Lysine Plus for cats. I give the indoor kitties lose powder on their food, but the only way to be sure the two ferals that really need it get the right amount is with the treats. :)

So Baloo and Smokey thank you!
