She mated a month ago three times with the same cat but she didn't show any signs of pregnancy after a week , then she had to be shaved and i took her to the vet and he checked her belly and said she wasn't pregnant. He did so because when shaving a cat should be put under anesthesia which will cause a pregnant cat to have a miscarriage. And after a week she started to show pregnancy signs and im so confused. Is there a possibility for my cat to not have a miscarriage when put under anesthesia? I 100% sure she didn't mate again because we didn't let her out after shaving. I desperately want Professional answers Heres a pic:

I need replies plz

Short answer is yes; unspayed cats who are allowed access to an unneutered male are always pregnant or nursing, except maybe in the dead of winter. Cats are very fertile.

Anesthesia doesn't always cause a miscarriage, or even hurt the kittens. Cats don't show pregnancy signs until about 3 weeks after mating, although very knowledgeable breeders may be able to tell a bit sooner. Even a vet wouldn't be able to tell after only one week.

If you don't want to raise the kittens (it's expensive!), it's not too late to spay/abort. If you decide to let her have the kittens, be sure to have her spayed when they're old enough; it's not healthy for her to go into heat too many times, not to mention the risk of unwanted kittens.

It's not possible to tell a cat is pregnant until the 3rd week, but if she hasn't been neutered, is over 6 months old and goes out then if she isn't now she will be very soon.

However she does look pregnant so think you are wring with the dates and she is 3-4 weeks further on than you suggest.

A great shame she wasn't neutered a month or two back - there are so many cats and kittens that can't get homes in rescues / shelters.  She could still be spayed (it would abort the kittens) and if you don't go down that route she can get pregnant again very soon after delivery.

Yeah, but those are X amount of kittens that won't get adopted who are already in shelters.

I hope you get your cat spayed after she delivers kittens--she will be healthier that way (not spaying, even delayed spaying, increases the risk that a cat will get certain types of cancers.)

I have good homes lined for the kittens , everything is arranged
Everyone says that.
Those cats and kittens Ritz mentions usually get euthanased, horrible, absolutely horrible.  The people you hope will give your kittens homes could have given homes to a few of the ones in shelters / rescues.

The point is that your family could have homed shelter cats - they could have saved a life.

That's good :). Make sure the kittens get spayed/neutered before they're old enough to get pregnant too (or father litters) so that more homes aren't taken away from all the poor kitties being killed for being unwanted :(. Girls can get pregnant as young as 4 months so make sure their new owners do it fast! Also, she can get pregnant right after giving birth so make sure she stays in until she's spayed. It also prevents her getting run over or something while her babies are still young and you would have to raise orphans. It's not easy!

Is she missing hair around her nipples (I can't really tell from the picture)? Are her nipples pinker than normal? Can you feel any movement? We'll see if we can figure out how far along she is :D.

You can't feel movement until about 2 weeks before she gives birth, so she's not that far along yet. But the nipples don't start pinking until about 3 weeks in, I'm not sure about when the fur falls out around the nipple but it's later than that, so probably she's around 5 weeks along. That's my guess anyway :tongue2:.

That's so nice that you want to open a shelter! Just think of all the poor homeless kitties you can help.

It does sound like she is pregnant and perhaps a little further along than you thought. Willowy is right that once you see/feel movement you are about two weeks away. I would say if you don't see/feel anything in the next few weeks take her to the vet and have them feel for kittens or do an ultrasound to be sure. If you can get her in sooner I probably would- that way you just know one way or the other.

But, since you suspect she is pregnant now is the time to bring her inside and keep her there so she gets used to it. You don't want to risk her having her babies outdoors where you can't find them. Also remember she can go back into heat shortly after delivery so make sure she stays indoors until after she is spayed. Now is also the time to start preparing your birthing kit and reading up on labor and delivery. TCS has a good link for that: http://www.thecatsite.com/t/80724/all-about-pregnancy-labor-delivery-in-cats . Looking through older threads is also a great way to prepare yourself on what is to come.
